Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report 2nd July 2017

Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report 2nd July 2017

A sad start to this weeks news with the passing of our President Peter Frost.
An old friend of Peter's phoned our Secretary today to let us know and to advise that the funeral will take place at the Crematorium, Stopsley Luton on Thursday 20th July at 2.00 pm then onto the United Services Club in Dunstable where Peter was a member for 40 years.

Personally I only met Peter a handful of times usually at the clubs AGM and fishing the Grand Union Canal at Grove Church where he would out fish my boilies using simple worm tactics landing numerous double figure carp while I sat fishless.

An all round specimen angler Peter fished with well known carpers such as Jack Hilton, Bill Quinlan and Len Arbery to name just a few during the early 1960s catching a 31lb carp from Tiddenfoot which was I believe the biggest caught in the UK in the 1960/61 season.

Jack Hilton wrote about Peters exploits in his book Quest for Carp and he was inducted to Carp-Talks Hall of Fame in 2014.

He set up various specimen groups including one for perch on the River Great Ouse and wrote books which you can still get hold of today.

Fishing has lost a legend. Those who had the privilege to know him, have lost an irreplaceable friend. Our condolences go out to his family. Peter will be sorely missed by all.
