Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 26th November 2017

The cold weather has meant fewer out on the bank but a couple of good fish were still reported this week from Beckerings Reservoir

Filip Dunaj fished for the reservoirs pike and managed two at 19lb 2oz and 16lb both fish falling to mackerel fished over spots heavily baited with 3kg of chopped up fish.

Elsewhere on the reservoir Luke Marvin tempted a 15lb common plus a rather unseasonal 6lb tench on Thripster Baits.

Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 19th November 2017

A very quiet week for reports as rain then heavy frosts saw many stay at home.

Only one individual catch report came in from Luton AC bailiff Terry Willison who was fishing for chub on the Great Ouse at Wyboston when something much larger picked up his bait. The river contains large carp so Terry was convinced he had hooked one of those on his chub set up so was amazed when he eventually slipped the net under a 13lb barbel.

MATCH RESULT
Abbey Lads took a last minute detour to the Globe stretch of the Grand Union Canal. Despite a series of heavy frosts that kept the weights down everyone caught
1st J WATTS 8-9
2nd P DEPPE 6-12 (5LB PIKE)
3rd K WARD 5-14 (2X 2LB PERCH)
4th WHILLOCK 5-10-8

Theres been lots happening bank side this week despite the wind, rain and drop in temperatures.

WYBOSTON COMPLEX
Great turnout (although sadly few of the regular members who fish there) on Saturday 11th November to our work party at Wyboston where the worst part of the track along to North House Lake and the river was scraped and levelled. Along with improvements to the track lots of other work was carried out including removal of fallen trees from the river bank and repairs to the otter fence. Our thanks go out to all those who helped, a great effort by all. PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY ALONG THE TRACK AS THIS MINIMISES DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE THANK YOU.

BECKERINGS RESERVOIR
Luke Marvin caught the mirror known as Donkey Head at 30lb 13oz on Thripsters Pearl

Ralph Walker had five carp of 26lb (a new personal best), 20lb 2x 16lb and 13lb all on Mad Baits Wicked Whites

KEMPSTON LAKE
Gary Rosenthal a new Thripster Baits tester managed several carp to mid 20lb on Thripsters Mixes

BECKERINGS RESERVOIR
Mark Sessions landed commons of 24lb 10oz and 22lb 9oz along with a 22lb 9oz mirror.

Mick Stringer tempted a 20lb 8oz common.

A good days fishing can rapidly deteriorate as our level 1 coach Filip Dunaj found out while at Beckerings Reservoir.

Filip caught 4 pike but the smallest and liveliest decided to rewrite the script and took a chunk out of Filips hand (the photo is a bit too graphic so we have blurred it for those eating their dinner!)

A trip to A&E was needed resulting in six stitches plus a weeks antibiotics.
Get well soon Filip!

VENUE CLOSURE WYBOSTON TRACK REPAIRS 10-11th November 2017
The Wyboston Complex (North House Lake, South Lagoon & River Great Ouse) will be closed for fishing from 6pm on Friday 10th November until 6pm on Saturday 11th November as after numerous delays beyond our control we are now able to level the track.
Volunteers are needed on the day to help move materials and fill holes as its a long track and much work is required to level it. IF ANYONE CAN SPARE A FEW HOURS THEN PLEASE LET US KNOW VIA PM. If you have a wheelbarrow/garden rake/spade/shovel it would be helpful plus gloves. We do have a quantity of engineering bricks (ones with holes) but could do with more if anyone has some going spare they can donate. Food and tea/coffee will be provided on the day as our work parties are always good social events as well.
If volunteers could arrive for 9am on SATURDAY 11th NOVEMBER please but be mindful that heavy plant will be working on site.
We have informed the Heron syndicate and the Nature Reserve of the track closure.
