Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 17th December 2017

We received a surprise phone call on Friday from The Canal and River Trust saying that 500lb of Silver fish were on their way to the canal from a drained down reservoir to replenish the stock lost in the fish kill section. Board members Dave M & David F managed to get there at very short notice to meet the Canal and River Trusts Contractors. Net after net of fish went in and took at least an hour to transfer all the fish. Roach, perch, skimmers, gudgeon, ruffe and one jack pike. In total around 20,000 fish for 640lb of fish were stocked. We look forward to further re-stocking over the next couple of months. Thanks to the C&RT fisheries team and the guys from MEM for making this happen.

Elsewhere its been snow melt making the rivers very coloured and the canal has been mostly frozen so there are no catch reports this week. This is our last weekly report of 2017 as next week is Christmas weekend followed by New Year.

Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year from everyone at Luton Angling Club we hope to see you on the bank in 2018.

Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 10th December 2017

What a difference a week makes and with plummeting temperatures which resulted in the Grand Union Canal freezing over in places Saturday morning plus a large quantity of snow Sunday there have been no catch reports this week.

John Dennis did send in a photo of his snow covered bivvie at Beckerings Reservoir!

Monday night into Tuesday could see the mercury drop to -6c so be prepared for venues freezing over.

The largest fish stocked was a mirror of 25lb with several others over 20lb. Further stockings of bream and other species will hopefully take place soon.

Elsewhere it was pike that grabbed the spotlight with Pawel Ceks landing a 12lb fish during the night on the Ouse at Wyboston
