Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 25th February 2018

With temperatures plummeting and set to drop even lower for the week ahead alot of anglers have chosen to stay at home rather than brave the elements.

GRAND UNION CANAL
The club was out on the Grand Union Canal in the week for another fish move from one of the No Fishing Power Line sections. MEM Fisheries electro-fished the section and moved over 30 Carp to 25lb, 60x 2lb plus Bream and a number of 2lb+ Perch along with thousands of smaller roach and skimmers. These fish have been moved to a section that can be fished safely. Many thanks once again to MEM for all their hard work.

BECKERINGS RESERVOIR
Carl Clark caught a 17lb 11oz common using a Hydrabaits TNT pop-up cast at showing fish.

Luke Marvin managed a scaley double figure carp on Thripster Pro Fish.

SOUTH LAGOON
Zbigniew fishing with Team CEKS landed a 10lb pike

with Wojciech banking an 8lb pike in the same session.

WORK PARTY/VENUE CLOSURE
Beckerings Reservoir will be closed to angling on Sunday 4th March between 8am & 4pm for a work party. All night anglers must please vacate the water by 8am. Platform repairs and general maintenance is being undertaken and all members are welcome to volunteer as there are always plenty of jobs that need doing. If you have any tools to use on the day such as rechargeable drills then they are always useful. A full list of work party dates is on page 2 of the membership book and will now always involve the closure of the venue.

MATCH RESULT
Barnet AC fished the Ouse at Biddenham on 11th February but found the going so bad that the winner wasn't actually weighed in but his 4 small bleak were the only fish caught and reckoned to be 2oz!! They then had to push all of their cars out of the car park where the river had flooded previously making it something resembling a swamp!
