Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 9th June 2019

We've already had some reports of members leaving rods unattended while using the new toilets. As per our rules rods MUST be reeled in if leaving your swim for any reason.

NORTH HOUSE LAKE
John King has sent in a photo taken at North House Lake of an angler he helped land and weigh the mirror carp known as Terrys Mirror. We know the angler is Norman Lacey and hes 82yrs old this year. He was we are told 'proper chuffed' with his capture which went 31lb 4oz on Johns scales and slightly less on Normans. Well done Norman and thanks to John for lending a hand and taking a great photo.

Peter Trew commons of 25lb 8oz and 19lb 4oz,

Paul Trew 22lb 8oz common

Jim Parrish a superb looking 28lb 12oz common,

Nicholas Goodman the Lobe Tailed Common down in weight at 23lb 3oz. Glad to see this very old fish still going after suffering some bad injuries a couple of seasons ago.

Dean Brittain was tenching for a few hours and did well to land a 9lb 4oz common on light gear then the following evening using the same tactics caught one of the stockies at 8lb.

James Ashley had 2 commons which look like direct descendants of the original commons stocked from Kew Gardens.

BECKERINGS RESERVOIR
Jack Rose was just 12hrs into his session but had already landed two catfish of 61lb 8oz and 33lb along with a common of 21lb 4oz when he messaged us!
Jack used an XL sling to weigh the cats which was 5lb exactly.

Neil Cox a nice scaley 16lber,

Martin Offer and son Aston on their first session at Beckerings Reservoir with 3 to 25lb 10oz

then Aston landed the pike known as Yellow Spot at 22lb,

Richard Emmerson had a 1am wake up call resulting in a 32lb 13oz mirror,
John King 30lb mirror weighed and witnessed by another member,

Carlo Borromeo found the carp a little hard going but managed a common before the bream arrived!

SOUTH LAGOON
Mike Baldwin fishing for bream with 10mm krill & tuna boilies landed a 26lb 13oz common. Mike was using a 1.25lb tc rod size 10 hook and 8lb line.

Filip Dunaj also went for the bream landing 45lb during an overnight session.

WORK PARTY REPORT
Lots of good work again at Biddenham with the last of the rotted platforms replaced. Several sunken branches were removed from the river and our qualified chainsaw team were busy opening up some of the swims ready for 16th June. We now have around 40 excellent swims. Many thanks as always to all the volunteers.
