Whilst on the subject of surface fishing please take great care when surface fishing and keep an eye on the ducks as the last thing you want is them swallowing a baited line.

North House Lake
No official catch reports this week but the bailiffs report several anglers catching this week and the catches include Terry's Mirror at around 35lb and some of the 2017 stockies around the 15-20lb mark.

Improvements were made to the otter fence this weekend, Some club members, bailiffs and committee members worked in the blistering heat installing a 50cm section of mesh in a trench under the existing fence. The existing external skirt at the bottom of the fence was regularly being breached by the rabbits. Initial signs are promising that the new buried section will deter them as on Sunday morning we could see where they have tried and given up after discovering the mesh. Fingers crossed this foils them.

River Ouse at Wyboston
Intending to visit Biddenham on Tuesday to rake some Lilly pads that have grown across some swims and fish of course Nobby Clarke discovered that the A507 was closed where he gets on near Buntingford, so to save messing about headed for Wyboston instead. He fished the waggler as the roach were well over half way across unfortunately he didn’t get any better quality fish but had 30 - 35 between 3 to 4 oz and 11 fish the stamp of the one in the photo. He said the longer we go without rain the harder it gets to find the better quality fish  but never mind good sport was had and he fished from 2.30 until 8.15. All fish were caught on hemp or tare .

Wednesday Match Reports
Wednesday 4th August How End Fishery
Due to many regulars being on holiday this week we had a reduced attendance of 14 anglers. We met at How End to fish Dani’s Lake. This was a late change of venue because of the swim works underway at South Lagoon preventing us going there. It was a light overcast early, and after a cooler night the morning temperature was hovering at 18C, but the temperature quickly increased to 27C with bright sunshine, although at times there was a strong cooling breeze, but sun cream was definitely the order of the day.
All the anglers fishing really enjoyed the day at How End, and weights as you would expect from a commercial fishery were much higher. The baits used included the usual commercial favourites of maggot, fishery Pellet, sweetcorn, match boilies and dumbbells. The anglers fished several methods including method feeder, pellet waggler and pole.
Top this week was taken by David Ridley, who caught steadily all day and weighed 159lb 4oz of Carp and silvers using a method feeder baited with maggot laid under the bank. Brian Shaw weighed 80lb 1oz, and Richard Gibbs was third using a combination of pole and pellet waggler with 74lb 5oz.
A big thank you to all who helped on the day with the draw and weigh in, and of course Phil and all at How End for helping us with the late change of venue.

Wednesday 10/08/2022 - Grand Union Canal
This week's Wednesday match saw 17 anglers meet at Brownlow Bridge, Invinghoe. Thanks go to Debbie for the use of the paddock for parking.
Temperatures were in the 30's and again no Dennis so no rain! A hot and sunny day so fishing was going to be hard and boats going over our far lines didn't help.
Everyone wanted the first few pegs as this area fished well in the previous match but alas not today. Tim Watts had another blinder from peg 17 (end peg) with 14lb 4oz mainly small roach and perch to start with, upping his feed he had a run of better fish including two skimmers. Top four rods fished similar pinkie/ hemp over ground bait, overall not a bad day and nice to see roach in every net.
