Wednesday Match Group Report 26/6/2024
Last Wednesday's match was held on the Grand Union Canal at Town South. 13 anglers turned out for what was a lovely sunny day albeit a bit hot which no doubt contributed to a tougher days fishing than expected, but all anglers reported catching fish. The match was pegged from the reeds opposite the Wharf apartments through White Bridge and on to about half way along the straight opposite the houses.
Winner on the day was Adrian Smith. Drawing peg 1 on the reeds opposite the wharf apartments, Adrian had an excellent start fishing at 4m with pinkie over groundbait where he caught decen skimmers and two larger bream in the first hour. He then switched to a 10m line where the same bait tactics landed more skimmers and two larger bream for a total winning weight of 13lbs 6ozs.
Simon Foulkes was second on peg 12 with 5lb 1oz. Simon fished two lines at 11.5m and 13m and fed small cups or hemp and dead red maggots regularly to catch skimmers and a perch on single dead red maggots.
In third place was Barry Roper. Barry drew peg eight by White Bridge and started fishing with breadpunch at 4m where we caught small roach and a decent bream. He then switched to the far bank bush with worm where he was unfortunate to lose 2 good perch before landing another for his overall weight of 4lb 4ozs.
The next Wednesday match is 3rd July when the match group visit Lakeside fishery at Cublington. Meet at the venue for the draw at 8.30am am. Fishery Fee, plus £1.00 peg fee and £5.00 optional pools, fish 10am till 3pm.
