Rory Luke wasnt fooling around on the 1st of April! He had this Tench from South Lagoon at 7lb 7oz. A great catch and a superb picture too.

Our local EA enforcement officer Tristan Davis visited the lagoon this weekend, He did a full walk round with our bailiff Brian Turner and chatted to the anglers that were fishing. We are pleased to report everything was in order. The EA do visit and patrol our waters regularly ensuring everything is in order, and we know we are able to call upon them for advice at anytime and they will respond quickly if we see or find anything suspicious.
Important Reminder: Bait Boat Restrictions on the Lagoon
Our bailiffs received a report from a disgruntled member of a bait boat being used from the bank marked in the image below, completely ignoring the "No Bait Boats" signs posted in the area and crossing several other anglers swims. This caused significant issues, forcing the member to abandon their swim and go home. This behaviour is unacceptable. Do not use bait boats along this bank.

Some challenging weather over the easter weekend with Storm Dave passing across the country. Lee Richardson took this picture of the calm before the storm.

A couple of pics were sent in by Kletos and his Son Nathaniel from a windy session on the res. Nathaniel wasn't disappointed with his 6lb 9oz Bream and Kletos managed a great looking Mirror Carp at 15lb 1oz. The Mirror Carp immaculate and will be amazing if or when it gets into the 20s.
It's his first Carp from Beckerings Reservoir since 1995 having got back into angling after a long period away from the sport.
They also had a few Bream around 3 or 4lb and lost a bigger Carp too - there's always next time to catch the one that got away!

Wednesday Match Report 1st April 2026 Westbrook Mere.
This week due to the generosity of Boxmoor and District Angling Society (BDAS) we were able to fish one of their club waters, Westbrook Mere.
The weather although slightly warmer than the week before was still chilly after a cold night, and the lake surface as we arrived looked like glass. We were met and shown around the venue by the BDAS Match Secretary Keith.
After parking and paying our peg fee and pools the 16 fishing set off to our pegs in high hopes. Alas for some this wasn’t to be as only 5 of us caught on a lake that because its spring fed was very clear, with a water temperature of only 10C. The lack of ripple seemed to accentuate the waters clarity.
The fish that were caught seemed to be approaching spawning condition many Bream showing the distinctive white tubercles they get at this time of year and perhaps starting to gather together to spawn. However, for those that did catch it turned out to be a fantastic day.
Dave Whillock was soon into fish. Dave fished a cage feeder with silver x bream groundbait using worm on a size 16 hook at about 30metres. He ended the day with 6 big bream for 46lbs 8oz the largest of which was a magnificent specimen of 9lbs 6oz, his biggest ever bream. He lost several others due to hook pulls but ended the day an extremely happy angler.
Dennis Hunt also fished a groundbait feeder on a tip rod getting his first bite after about 90 minutes, a strong fish which was played to the edge, and he was preparing to net when the 16 hook pulled out. Dennis changed to a slightly larger 14 hook with a large bunch of red maggots and continued fishing with no further bites until about 45 mins from the end when the tip again pulled round and he netted a large Tench. In the next 20 mins Dennis had 2 more Tench ending up with 3 fish for 14lb 2oz, again a red letter day.
Richard Darbon (sponsored by Tiptree jam) who was fishing a feeder at around 30 metres with maggot as hookbait took an unusual looking fish that after further research was identified as a large roach / Bream Hybrid that weighed 6lb 1oz, again a personal best and a very happy angler.
Fourth this week was Mark Sessions, also using a feeder who started by taking one of the Mere’s resident pike of between 6 and 7lb. After returning this fish which didn’t count, Mark went on to catch one of the lovely resident Tench which weighed 4lb 8oz.
Terry Vickers was perhaps the unluckiest man of all, catching another of the pike of between 6 and 7lb which again didn’t count, bad luck Terry
Our thanks must be recorded to BDAS for allowing us to fish one of their lovely Club waters and especially to Keith for meeting us, making us so welcome and showing us around.
Many thanks also to Richard Gibbs, for doing the admin with our pools and peg fees this week and the assisting with the draw, and all who helped with the weigh in.

Meet at the venue promptly for an 8.30 draw as usual. £5.00 optional pools plus £2.00 Luton pegging fee, Fish 10am to 3pm.

Final winter league match report:
The 5th and final round of the LAC Winter League was held on Sunday 22nd March on the GUC at The Globe.
Thanks as ever to the Globe Pub for allowing the anglers to use the car park.
15 anglers turned out for the match and, thanks to Bonito and Dave Whillock, was pegged from the pub back towards Leighton Lock. This year's winter league has been tough with fish hard to come by. Thankfully, this time, the angling gods at least allowed everyone to catch. With this being the final round it was close at the top of the leaderboard with a straight shoot out between Tim Watts, Dave Whillock and Chris Howard.
Winner of the match was Chris Howard. Chris has been consistent in the winter league (having also won the previous Sunday Series) Drawing well in the section by the lock, Chris started on the pole at 10m fishing breadpunch and caught a super Hybrid of 3lb 6ozs and followed this up with a bream and some small roach for an overall weight of 5lb 13 ozs.
Graham Fox, fishing his first winter league match with LAC can second. A welcome new addition, Graham drew peg 11 opposite the sewage works and fished the long pole where he caught a huge perch of 2lb 13ozs which added to a few small roach gave him a weight of 3lb. On the next peg was Bart Bonito (peg 12). Bart adopted similar tactics and also caught a large perch and some small roach for 2lb 8ozs 4 dram earning him 3rd place overall. Tim Watts on end peg 1 came forth with 2lb 4 ozs.
Tims fishing was disrupted for a short while as a number of boats navigated the lock at the same time but his weight was enough to give him the points he needed to win the league outright. Chris Howard match winning weight was enough for him to leapfrog Dave Whillock into the runner up spot with Dave finishing 3rd overall.
