Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 10th June 2018

A strangely slow week for larger fish captures which is probably a signal that the carp are about to spawn

SOUTH LAGOON
Pawel Ceks caught 9 eels

and his friend Wojciech a 4lb pike

GRAND UNION CANAL
Pawel Ceks moved from the South Lagoon to the canal and caught a 12lb mirror.

Amer Jawad fished the canal near Sandy Bridge catching around 45lb of bream.
Our canal sections are currently the best they have ever been for bream catches.

CATFISH STOCKING
During Sundays Sensas Southern Canal League match four small catfish were caught. In line with KIFR regulations, the fish were removed by the EA and transported live to Beckerings Reservoir where we have the necessary consent to stock them.

NORTH HOUSE LAKE
A few of the stock fish introduced last Autumn are now being caught which looks good for the future of the lake.

COACHING
Following on from Sunday successful coaching day at the Three Locks a further coaching session took place on Thursday evening. All caught well and were given a free whip from Canal & River Trust.

The next evening coaching is on Thursday 21st June then 5th July & 19th July from 6.30pm to 8.30pm so why not pop along and see if our coaching team can help refine your fishing skills and help with tackle selection. We do have a fairly healthy junior Kingfisher section and it would be nice to see them taking advantage of these free sessions.

WORKPARTY
Ahead of the start of the new river season next Saturday the Lavendon lay-by parking area has been strimmed and cleared most of the work carried out by Bob who started on Wednesday so that gave a good start.
The down stream pathway has been strimmed all along its length making access available with swims cut out where possible. Prior to this it was practically impassable. Whilst completing and finishing off Bob & Des went and cut out a few swims on the upper section.

BECKERINGS RESERVOIR
Could all members make themselves aware of the rules relating to the reservoir which includes only setting up your bivvy on the platforms and not the bank behind which can obstruct the farm vehicles. Also please do not drill holes in the platforms as several of the platforms have now been damaged and will need replacing sooner than they would
normally.
