Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 14th July 2019

 NEW GRAND UNION CANAL PARKING

Club members are now able to use the car park at the bottom of the lane that leads down to the canal at Slapton. This is accessed with your club key. The gate must always be kept locked straight after arriving or leaving. Vehicles must also not obstruct access through to the lock cottage at any time as this is essential for emergency services and various waste/delivery trucks. Please keep noise to an absolute minimum being respectful that people live close by the car park. Thank you.

LETS FISH 13th JULY GUC SLAPTON
Saturdays event at Slapton went very well. The new car park was put to good use. Weather wise a bit overcast with spells of sunshine, no wind so great for float fishing.
5 coaches and helpers from Luton AC with a further coach assisting from Tring Anglers completed the team.12 youngsters and 5 parents took advantage of the coaching with all catching many fish.
Small bream, roach, perch and gudgeon being the species caught. Everyone enjoyed the experience with all wanting to come again.
Some lived local with a few children from the same school. A couple of mothers exchanged contact details to keep in touch for further events, saying they will inform other mothers they know of the events.
One mother had travelled with her son from Oxford.
Only a few boats came through all slowing down as they passed, though the narrow bridge could have been a factor in this!
Thanks to all those that took part in making this a successful day, including those that strimmed and tidied the car park prior to the day.

Steve
