North House Lake
Josh Leher fished North house for the first time on Friday and landed this 21lb 5oz PB common first cast. It was caught on fake corn lowered into the margins near feeding fish, and the bite came within 15 minutes. As a new member for this year, he also commented on how welcoming and friendly the other anglers on the lake were, which is great to hear.

Lavendon Mill - Upstream
Mark Brooks and Bob Burdiak enjoyed what turned out to be a tough day at Lavendon upstream this week. Bright sun and a downstream breeze made for hard work as Mark fished at 14m on the pole and Bob on the waggler. Roach eventually turned up as cloud cover increased, both were catching the fish on wheat.

Wednesday Match Report 23rd August, River Ouse at Biddenham
There were nine of us fishing Biddenham this week, a smaller than usual turnout due to holidays, hospital appointments and last-minute babysitting duties!
It was a lovely late summer morning, cool and with a slightly damp feel in the air. The temperature soon rose as the sun appeared and we ended with a warm day with the temperature pushing 25C. The river had a lovely colour, and a very slight flow, badly needing rain to increase the flow and perhaps improve the fishing.
Our top dog today was Barry Roper who fished his Cadence whip, alternating between 6 and 9 meters. He started on maggot and caught small roach steadily and with an hour and a half to go started getting bites on hemp to finish with a flourish catching quality roach for 5lb 5oz.
Adrian Smith was second, probably robbed of first place as he had to leave an hour early to catch a flight for a business meeting. Adrian fished 2 pole lines, one at around 9 metres and one at 13.5metres.

He used a flat float on the 9 Metre line using chopped worm over groundbait where he caught most of his fish, mostly consisting of perch and some skimmers with a dace and a chublet. He used hemp, caster and wheat on the 13.5m line, but this only produced a couple of roach, finishing with 5lb.
Ash Bunnage finished third and caught most of his fish at depth in 11ft of water. On his 13 Metre line he used double pinkie, but was plagued with nuisance bleak, on his second line at 5metres he had a few perch on a chop worm/caster to weigh 4lb 2oz.
Dennis Hunt put in a slightly better performance than last week but had a roach taken by a pike twice, and hooked and lost a very strong fish which took hemp in the last 15 mins which ran all over the river before finally throwing the hook in the marginal weed at the edge.

Luton Kingfisher's - Junior and Cadet Team practice at Three Locks.
Our Luton Coaches had a fantastic coaching session with our youngsters on the Grand Union Canal at Three Locks on Saturday.
We had a mixture of Cadet and Junior anglers on the bank practicing the skills they have learned in our coaching sessions and this will help when they represent the Club at the CRT celebration in Shropshire in a months’ time.
We hope to have a record entry to the Celebration this year, the largest event for young people fishing in the UK.
This year we have some talented young anglers, who hope to at least equal last year’s stunning performances, which included a top 10 team finish in the Juniors.
We practiced both long and short pole skills, with pinkies over groundbait, and all our youngsters were catching well, really well done everyone.
We were also giving those representing the club their Luton team shirts, an important part of looking smart and recognised on the banks as part of our Luton Team.
We will hold more practice sessions honing skills before the big day and our young anglers are encouraged to spend as much time on the banks as they can during the school holidays, further refining their skills.
Well done to everyone

Match Report 16th August Danni’s How End - A disaster for Dennis!
This week we went to fish Danni’s Lake at How End, and a dozen of us met at the fishery on a glorious summer day, warm and with little or no wind, looking forward to our day on a commercial fishery. The lake had good colour and cruising fish could be seen as we went to our pegs.
First place Dave Britton had a red-letter day, catching fish all day on a tip using a hybrid feeder with a 4” hooklink to a size 16 hook. The feeder was filled with Micro’s, and bait was 6mm Red Robin pellet and pineapple pellet, with a few on the fishery 8mm hard pellet. Dave weighed in with 165lb 12oz.
Richard Gibbs who was second fished in a very similar way to Dave Brittain. He fished a small 18grm hybrid feeder loaded with fishery pellet and groundbait using dead maggot as hookbait. He fished long to the island to start but only got small Bream, so witched to the inside line where he had been loose feeding a few fishery pellets and dead maggots and then caught Carp steadily from the nearside all day, finishing with 128lb 12oz.
Jim Tookey finished third fishing both pole and feeder to weigh 114lb 12 oz.
Special mention should be made of improving not so newbie Ray Burton taking his personal best weight ever with 60lb 8oz. Ray had had a great day and was delighted with his bag. Many of those fishing experienced losing big fish, but all enjoyed the day out.
The wooden spoon this week went to Dennis Hunt who weighed in 5lb 8oz for 12th and last place, a performance he will no doubt be keen to forget on a day where it all went badly wrong.
We’ve all had those days, but he enjoyed the sunshine, better luck next week!

Gregg Taberner fished North House Lake and had a great looking Common Carp weighing in at 32lb.

After the match on Wednesday at Ivinghoe (see match report below), Chris Howard decided to fish on, and was joined by his son and Grandson.
Chris reported that there was a huge rise of fish to flying ants, and as a result they bagged up on the Roach, Chris sent a photograph of his catch.

Nick Lynch caught one of the Ide or it may be a Hybrid from Beckerings he caught it on 2 red maggots and it weighed 3lb on the dot. Its quite difficult to tell sometimes.

Alan Lidgley also caught one of 2lb 12oz he had it on the float with sweetcorn fished over hemp on 3lb line and a size 14 barbless hook.
Alan Lidgley - 2lb 12oz
Damon Smith just had the one carp on Friday night it weighed 18lb 6oz he had it on a skerkro whisky-liver boilie. He also had 4 or 5 large bream and lost a cat to a hook pull after a mammoth 25 minute scrap - he's gutted about it as he had geared up specifically for a cat and used a specific large bait to deter any other fish.

Junior Members Kenzie Lynch and Harley Lynch had a great session with Kenzie catching a 20lb 14oz Common and Harley a 20lb 10oz Common.

Canal & River Trust - Let's Fish Event
The latest C&RT “Lets Fish” run by Luton Angling club took place on Tuesday 8th August on the Luton controlled section of the Grand Union canal at Slapton near Leighton Buzzard it was a very busy and successful event with all the participants catching fish on the day.
The day started well and the children were catching straight away, mostly close in on short pole and whip tactics with pinkie as hook bait.
Our three coaches Adrian Smith, Neil Williams lead by level two coach Mark Brooks were kept busy from the start despite the at times persistent heavy rain with a constant stream of enthusiastic kids and in some cases parents taking part.
Small Gudgeon, Roach and Perch made up the majority of the catches with some small bream putting in an appearance and there were also a few better Roach of around six inches plus.

You can find out more about these free events which are hosted by many angling club's around the country via the canal and River Trust website.

Match report Wednesday 9th August GUC Ivinghoe
11 anglers turned out for this week's Wednesday match on the GUC at Ivinghoe. This included two of our junior anglers (Dylan and Daniel) who acquitted themselves very well on the day.
Thanks to Bart for arriving early and pegging the match length, weighing in at the end and for also providing the comedy moment of the day when he dived into the canal like olympian Tom Daley to rescue his pole section. Bart also turned into "Mystic Meg" pre-draw and predicted that pegs 12 and 11 would be good draws.
That turned out to be true.
Sean Leatherland drew peg 12 and made good work of the fancied end peg. After 40 minutes catching fish on the whip close in, a switch to long pole paid off, and he was soon into a run of decent bream fishing at 12.5m with caster. Following a run of boats, his line slowed, and he spent the rest of the match switching between whip and long pole to end with a match winning weight of 13lb 5ozs.
Simon Foulkes on the next peg fished similar long pole tactics using worm and caster and again had a lovely mixed next of some decent bream, roach and perch for his second placed weight of 12lb 6ozs.
At the other end of the match length, Tim Watts focused his attention on the smaller fish and kept fish coming all day to finish with over 140 fish for a superb 9lb 15ozs. Fishing pole and pinkie.
For the other anglers, it was a good day's fishing with a lot of small gudgeon and roach caught along the match length and odd decent perch making an appearance.
The canal itself was alive with small fry fish, shoals of which spent the day scattering from the abundance of perch chasing them.
Special mention to the two juniors in the match Dylan and Daniel who both fished very well for their catches. It was great to see these young anglers on the bank.
