Luton Kingfisher's - Junior and Cadet Team practice at Three Locks.
Our Luton Coaches had a fantastic coaching session with our youngsters on the Grand Union Canal at Three Locks on Saturday.
We had a mixture of Cadet and Junior anglers on the bank practicing the skills they have learned in our coaching sessions and this will help when they represent the Club at the CRT celebration in Shropshire in a months’ time.
We hope to have a record entry to the Celebration this year, the largest event for young people fishing in the UK.
This year we have some talented young anglers, who hope to at least equal last year’s stunning performances, which included a top 10 team finish in the Juniors.
We practiced both long and short pole skills, with pinkies over groundbait, and all our youngsters were catching well, really well done everyone.
We were also giving those representing the club their Luton team shirts, an important part of looking smart and recognised on the banks as part of our Luton Team.
We will hold more practice sessions honing skills before the big day and our young anglers are encouraged to spend as much time on the banks as they can during the school holidays, further refining their skills.
Well done to everyone

Match Report 16th August Danni’s How End - A disaster for Dennis!
This week we went to fish Danni’s Lake at How End, and a dozen of us met at the fishery on a glorious summer day, warm and with little or no wind, looking forward to our day on a commercial fishery. The lake had good colour and cruising fish could be seen as we went to our pegs.
First place Dave Britton had a red-letter day, catching fish all day on a tip using a hybrid feeder with a 4” hooklink to a size 16 hook. The feeder was filled with Micro’s, and bait was 6mm Red Robin pellet and pineapple pellet, with a few on the fishery 8mm hard pellet. Dave weighed in with 165lb 12oz.
Richard Gibbs who was second fished in a very similar way to Dave Brittain. He fished a small 18grm hybrid feeder loaded with fishery pellet and groundbait using dead maggot as hookbait. He fished long to the island to start but only got small Bream, so witched to the inside line where he had been loose feeding a few fishery pellets and dead maggots and then caught Carp steadily from the nearside all day, finishing with 128lb 12oz.
Jim Tookey finished third fishing both pole and feeder to weigh 114lb 12 oz.
Special mention should be made of improving not so newbie Ray Burton taking his personal best weight ever with 60lb 8oz. Ray had had a great day and was delighted with his bag. Many of those fishing experienced losing big fish, but all enjoyed the day out.
The wooden spoon this week went to Dennis Hunt who weighed in 5lb 8oz for 12th and last place, a performance he will no doubt be keen to forget on a day where it all went badly wrong.
We’ve all had those days, but he enjoyed the sunshine, better luck next week!
