WORK PARTY AT NORTH HOUSE LAKE
On Sunday 11th August North House Lake is closed from 8am until 5pm for a work party, General venue maintenance will be carried out including some thinning of the reeds in some of the swims. Members are encouraged to attend and lend a hand. Only members assisting with the work party can book on Saturday night and anyone wishing to fish on Sunday may not arrive until 5pm unless assisting us with the work party.
Colin Crane decided to give Lavendon another go on Friday after catching 100 Roach on his last visit, and he did it again! Switching between a waggler and a slider set up, he caught constantly throughout the day. It took about an hour to get them feeding but by 3pm he'd hit his target of 100 again.Apologies for the photo but on this occasion with it being a very hot day, he took a quick photo of the fish in his keepnet before returning them.
There were 6 anglers at Lavendon on Friday proving that our car park was a welcome addition to the venue. According to the bailiff, another member Lee Waring lost a large fish on lobworm, which was likely one of the big carp that patrol the stretch.
Our thanks go to the Lavendon Bailiff Roger as he has made repairs to he bridge across the ditch between the first and second field as the boards were getting rotten.

Colin Crane also visited our Eaton Ford stretch on Saturday after having great success at Lavendon Mill, He did well here as well catching his target of one hundred fish, they weren't all Roach this time as there were a few chublets and Dace mixed in.

River Ouse - Biddenham
Youngster Grayson caught his first ever fish this week, he has been a member since last year with his Nan and Grandad but was a bit too young to fish then. Now he is a year older he's started having ago and had little Chublet caught on single red maggot and size 18 hook.
Luton Kingfishers - Sweep the board at the CRT Regional Event.
Luton Kingfishers swept the board at the CRT Northampton Regional Match held on the GUC at Upper Heyford on Saturday 3rd August. The day was warm and muggy, with a strong wind blowing along the cut, and heavy holiday boat traffic made the fishing challenging.
Leo took first in the Cadets with a weight of 2lb 6oz including a lovely Perch of 1lb 14oz. Second was taken by the fast-improving Alex who got the most promising Cadet award with 1lb 4oz.
The Junior title was taken by Jack who produced a tremendous performance with his pole, at both long and short lengths to weigh 2lb 8oz.
Dylan triumphed over his brother Daniel with a long awaited second place with 2lb 2oz, pushing Daniel into third place with 1lb 11oz.
Dylan demonstrated his skills with a waggler as when his short pole line died he changed and fished a waggler taking a decent Perch to bolster his weight,
It was a brilliant performance by the Kingfishers as they were up against some well known young anglers who had travelled significant distances to compete,
All the Luton Coaches are extremely proud of our young anglers.

Match Report 31st July Barnwell Plantation River Nene
We were fishing Wellingborough water on the Nene at Barnwell this week, a lovely rural stretch of river, which recently hosted a ‘Riverfest’ qualifier heat. We had 10 anglers attending, as we had several of the regulars on holiday.
We were fishing Wellingborough water on the Nene at Barnwell this week, a lovely rural stretch of river, which recently hosted a ‘Riverfest’ qualifier heat. We had 10 anglers attending, as we had several of the regulars on holiday.
The weather was warm and overcast when we started but the overcast rapidly cleared, and we had a sunny day with the temperature rising to 30C in the afternoon. The river had good flow but was very clear we had 3 boats and a couple of paddleboarders pass us but they had no effect on the fishing .
Dennis Hunt decided to approach the venue with 2 lines, one at 6m down the edge in about 7 ft of water, and the other at 9m in about 10ft down the middle. He decided to feed groundbait laced with pinkie and caster on both lines, and start fishing the 6m line from the off. Using double pinkie as bait bites were there from the start, and he started to catch small perch from the off. He made the decision to stay on this line until it slowed but the middle line failed to produce, despite several tries over the duration of the match, so he stuck on the inside line taking Perch, Chub, Dace, Roach and Bleak in his catch, weighing in 5lb 8oz for first place.
Adrian Smith who took second place spent first couple of hours on flat float over groundbait but only caught a Perch and Bleak. He then moved onto his hemp line and caught Roach interrupted occasionally by Pike trouble for rest of match with wheat on the hook which proved to be the best bait for him. Adrian weighed 5lb 6oz.
Richard Gibbs started on a stick float, fishing a couple of rod lengths out in about 8ft of water using hemp and maggot. He had small Perch from the off but couldn’t really get a run of fish, he would get 3 or 4 and then the bites would stop. This may have been due to the Pike he had that was clearly visible nosing around his keepnet for most of he day.
Richard changed to a whip a 6m for the last 30 mins and had a decent run of Roach ending with 4lb 14oz of silvers for third.
All who fished enjoyed the day out, and our thanks this week are to Wellingborough, for very generously allowing us to fish their water, and to all those who helped with the draw and weigh in.

Venue Security
One of our members discovered the Gate from the car park into the field open on Sunday morning. It is extremely important that all gates are securely closed, latched and where applicable locked after use to not only maintain venue security but also to prevent any livestock escaping.
