Biddenham River Ouse
Fergal O'Kane fished at Biddenham on Saturday he had small chub, Dace and Perch. Other anglers he spoke to had also been catching. Bailff Terry Roberts also fished the venue earlier this month (14th Jan) he had a chub of about 4lb, a few roach and one lovely dace, the other two anglers fishing that he spoke to blanked. He also reported that the day before he witnessed a member catching a 4-5lb chub on a Lure.

River Ouse at Wyboston
Good news for anyone who fishes the River at Wyboston. Replacement of the bridge across the stream that washed away in the floods, is now underway. This work is being organised and carried out by a third party as this bridge is not the clubs responsibility as it provides access to the nature reserve. Looks like they are doing a really nice job of it too!

It looks like they have also removed the dodgy brick steps, The area is quite muddy at the moment where the work has taken place due to the wet ground conditions so wellies are advised.

LAC 2025 Winter League - 19th Jan 2025
Sunday 19th Jan saw the first round of the LAC Winter League get off to a stuttering start. Following the previous week's ice-cold conditions followed by some milder weather before another drop in temperature, all the indications were that it might be a tough match; and so it proved.
22 anglers turned out for the match including one of the LAC juniors which was great to see. Unfortunately, only 8 were lucky enough to catch and you needed to be either near White Bridge or closer to Town to get a bite.
Sean Leatherland won the match. Sean drew Peg 11 next to White Bridge and fished over to the tree where he fed punch and caught around 13 small fish on pinkie (including a Dace) for a total weight of 4 ozs. In second place was Dave Whillock on Peg 12. Pegged the other side of White Bridge, Dave caught 8 small roach for a weight of 1oz 8 drms.
Third went to Tim Watts who caught two perch of 1 ozs and then 4th place was shared between Mark Brooks, Ian Orbell, Charlie Robinson and Pete Smith who all weighed in 1/2 oz each.
Other than Myles Tommey who caught a tiny perch for 1/4 oz, all other anglers blanked with one section of 6 recording no weight.
Round 2 will be on 2nd February on the GUC at Three Locks. The draw at Three Locks Car Park at 8.30am. £2.00 peg fee and £5.00 optional pools, fish 10am till 3pm.
For anyone thinking of joining in with the friendly matches, they are open to club members and if you are joining us for the first time can we ask that you message us so we know you are coming before turning up.
You will be asked to produce your Club book at first appearance, so please have it with you and you are very welcome.

Our Lavendon car park gate and some of the fencing was completely destroyed this week and even the gate posts were completely ripped from the ground. We believe this was done by Ram raiders who we think hid stolen farm machinery prior to it being used in a nearby supermarket cashpoint heist. As a result, we've had to temporarily install a much narrower gate to secure the car park until the new gate and posts are delivered. It is just about wide enough for most vehicles if care is taken,

I got my Land Rover through easily. Thanks to Neville Hunt, David Murdoch, Fergal O'Kane and Roger Bland for sorting this today. We'll install the new large gate ASAP.

Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 12th January 2025

Here is this the latest news information and catch report round up from Luton Angling Club.

There has been very little to report since Christmas therefore we haven't had a weekly report since before Christmas. This will be the first report of 2025 so Happy New Year to all our members.

With the recent cold snap, our still waters have been frozen, North House Lake and South Lagoon being both fully frozen over. Beckerings is fishable at the moment with only the car park end pegs 24 round to Peg 2 frozen over. We're keeping members updated on conditions as they change via posts on our Facebook page.

South Lagoon
Beckerings Reservoir
The Rivers have fined down nicely with bailiffs reporting that the river at Wyboston is looking OK it still has a good bit of flow and coloured but is fishable. The same story at Biddenham.

During the icy weather please take extra care as things can get slippery under foot on platforms, bridges, pathways and in our car parks.

At Beckerings on a cold Wednesday bailiff Mark Sessions fished the feeder using a 4lb hooklink and size 16 hook with 3 pinkies and although not his target he managed two Commons the biggest was 17lb 4oz and the other around 14lb.

Club coach Mark Brooks was also at Beckerings on Saturday with one of our young Kingfisher members, the aim was for Jack to learn how to fish the slider, it was a cold afternoon and the reservoir was partially frozen but that didn't put them off and they had a good coaching session.

That's all we have for now, please do send in any catch reports as they are few and far between at this time of year so we really appreciate any reports at all even if you don't catch anything it's good to get venue condition reports!
