Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report 26th February 2017

Weekly News Report 26th February 2017

Beckerings Reservoir has been re-filled and the water level is now back up to its normal levels, Fishing is steady and the bailiff reports that one member fishing a 48hr Night session this week had 8 carp to 28lb.

On the River Alan Lawrence fished one of our sections of the Ouse again this week. He fished from Mid Afternoon and did not have a single bite during daylight but around 2 hours into darkness his rod tip pulled round and a 7lb 4oz Chub graced his landing net. He has not divulged exactly which of our river venues he was fishing

We really appreciate any report that is sent to us by our members we know a lot of hard work goes into catches like this but it helps us to know how the venues are performing and we will not disclose the exact details of reports sent to us unless you give us the OK to do so.

Braggers AC fished on the Luton AC controlled Grand Union Canal on Sunday 19th Feb and had 21 fishing.

1st - 7lbs 1oz
2nd -5lbs 6oz
3rd - 4lbs 11oz

A massive Perch of 3lbs 11oz was caught in this match.

Despite the mild weather the match did not see a single boat go through and the matchmen thought weights would have been better if they had a bit of movement.

North House Lake will be closed on Saturday 4th March between 09:00 and 16:00 whilst venue maintenance is carried out. Anyone wishing to book on for the night on Friday must leave the venue by 08:00 on Saturday and anyone booking for Saturday night should not arrive before 16:00hrs

Luton Angling Club - Weekly News Round-Up 19th February 2017

Weekly News Round-Up 19th February 2017

At last this week with the better weather we have had a few more reports coming in and some nice catches to report.

Alan Lawrence fished one of our stretches of the River Ouse on the 16th February and had a great session with Chub of 6lb 6oz, 5lb 5oz, 4lb 12oz and 4lb 2oz a picture of the biggest fish can be seen below.

Phil Anderson and his son Callum fished our short stretch of the River Ouzel near Leighton Buzzard on the 15th February and caught some fantastic Perch using a crayfish lure.

Also getting success with the Perch is Marc Hill who sent in a picture of a 3lb 10oz Perch caught this week from the Canal along with a photo of another nice Perch he has had from the River Ouzel recently all of which can be seen in the photo galleries on our website at
www.lutonanglingclub.co.uk

On the lagoon, Regular Simon Heath had a monster sized Pike see picture below, this is the biggest Pike that we have had reported for a while. Simon also sent us in some other photos from last year of some of his more notable captures from the lagoon. He clearly puts in the time and effort as he has had some great fish over the last year from the venue

Match Fishing Magazine was on the Grand Union Canal at Leighton Buzzard with Preston Innovations/Browns Angling's backed Graham West and they were live on facebook, a recording of these videos can be seen on our facebook page. They caught a nice net of fish including Perch of 2½ - 3lb. The article will appear in an upcoming issue of the magazine.

Fergal O Kane fished the Ouse at Biddenham on Sunday and managed a 9lb Pike he also had the pleasure of catching lots of small fish using a centre pin and crow quill Avon.

Our final Predator Match of the season takes place on Sunday 5th March on the Ouse at Biddenham. Every season this 42 peg stretch which the club own produces perch over 3lb, chub over 6lb and decent pike all of which count in this predator match. Its £10 to take part with a nice trophy up for grabs and every penny raised goes to Keech Hospice If you want to take part please get in touch using contact details at the bottom of this report.
