Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 31st March 2019

Plenty going on around the venues this week

NORTH HOUSE LAKE
Mark Brookman continued his good form by catching the mirror carp known as Terrys Mirror at 31lb along with The Wanderer at 29lb 8oz

KEMPSTON LAKE
Paul & Braidan Tidmarsh enjoyed a 9 fish catch up to 21lb

BECKERINGS RESERVOIR
New Member Mark Austin caught a pretty 17lb mirror off the top during a 2hr after work session.

During the week a further catfish of 31lb was stocked into the reservoir (photographed in a 600 gallon holding tank)courtesy of a fish rescue by the EA after the catfish was caught from the Aylesbury Arm on the Grand Union Canal by C&RT contractors. We hold a license at the reservoir for catfish which cannot be returned to the canal so would have otherwise have had to be destroyed. Our thanks go to the EA, C&RT & MEM for arranging this.

During the EA's visit to the reservoir they checked the licences of the 6 anglers fishing and all were in order.

GRAND UNION CANAL
Plenty of good carp being caught from the canal with numbers coming off the top during the warmer days. The roach and bream have been slow to respond with only the Grove Church to Grove Pub section consistently producing good weights up to 30lb.

WORK PARTY BIDDENHAM
Two work parties have now been completed at our Ouse Biddenham fishery which is wholly owned by the club. Many of the rotten platforms have now been replaced with only a couple earmarked for future work. Many thanks to the 20+ volunteers that attended over the 2 work parties which saves the club employing outside contractors at considerable expense.

AGM
The club AGM took place this week which included awards being handed out to the best of season fish captures.

We recently stocked Beckerings Reservoir with Barbel, Chub & Ide with 20+ carp into North House Lake the season before and its our aim to keep stock fish going in to replace those that naturally die off through old age.
