55 and over Wednesday Social Event News
Wednesday was the first of the Luton 55 and over social outings, which took place at Grove Church on the Grand Union Canal
11 anglers from Tring and Luton fished the event held in glorious sunshine and it was just a great day to be out fishing in the middle of the week.
Sadly the Luton representation was less than that of Tring but we do hope some more of our members will join us and enjoy the company and the general banter as we progress these events.
These free weekly socials are open to all members men and women aged 55 and over as well as ALL of our disabled members irrespective of age. Contact John Morris LAC Secretary for details 07951 188349
Our next outing is to the GUC at Cooks Wharf on Wednesday 22nd May meeting in the large car park next to the canal bridge for a 9am draw fish 10 till 3.
This week’s result was rather dominated by the Tring lads, Luton have made a note to do better in future, perhaps you would like to join in, it doesn’t matter if you aren’t the best angler in the world, come along, enjoy the company and the fresh air with us. Match fishing gear isn't mandatory cast out a carp rod if that's what you prefer!
The top weights this week came from the Grove Marina area.
Winner Steve Purdy 17lb
Runner up Eric Sharman 11lb 15oz
Third Derek Bishop 10lb 11oz

NEW RULE AT KEMPSTON LAKE
We have today been informed that ALL anglers fishing Kempston Lake from 1st June must have a minimum 42" landing net set up before commencing fishing. This is the case even if bream or roach fishing when a smaller landing net is acceptable to use for those species but the larger net must be set up ready in case one of the venues larger fish is hooked. Unfortunately the bailiffs have witnessed large carp being landed in woefully small pan size landing nets so this makes good fish care sense. Anyone fishing without the minimum size net will be told to leave by the lake owners team of bailiffs.
Whilst on the subject of fish care its not a rule but we would very much like everyone on all of our venues to use an hydrating bucket (I use a collapsible/folding groundbait bucket) to wet the mat before placing a fish on it and during the unhooking/photographing process as fish on dry mats is never a good way to care for our stock. PM us if you are unsure or would like more info on any aspect of fish care. Thanks

Steve
