Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 15th March

NORTH HOUSE LAKE
Sam Kite caught a very nice-looking 15lb 6oz common.

Neil Williamson sent through a picture of his friend Cliff who caught Shadow from North House on Friday at 32lb 6oz.

THE GREAT OUSE
Dariusz Blahuta with some more great pictures. This time from Eaton Ford on the last day of the season. The pike came from the backwater and the rest from the main river.

Dennis Hunt fished Biddenham and while there were plenty of bites from dace and small chub, this fish of the day (perch) turned up at 1lb 10oz on a bunch of quiver tipped maggots.

GRAND UNION CANAL
Tim Grover was up at 5am but it was definitely worth it with a 20lb 10oz canal carp.

NEW FISH & NEW WATERS FOR 2020/21 SEASON
In addition to the club retaining all of it’s current waters, our members will also be able to fish four well stocked pits in Lea Valley Park, Broxbourne, Herts as we are now a member club of the Turnford Consortium. Slipe Lane Pits (LEA PIT, RAILWAY PIT, BOOT PIT and MARSH PIT) are former Gravel Pits and contain a good head of mixed coarse fish with a number of species being found to specimen size with carp reported to over 40lb from L
ea, Railway and Marsh Pit along with many 20s and 30s. specimen Bream, tench and pike are also present in the pits. Boot Pit contains good quantities of smaller coarse fish with an abundance of Roach and Rudd. The lakes are well maintained and have been regularly stocked with home-grown carp (from the Lea Valley Hatchery) in recent years.
There are also bream and tench reported to double figures, and for the predator anglers, pike to 30lb+ have been caught.  Fishing at the pits for Luton AC members will run from 1st June 2020 to 31st March 2021.  For more information about these new waters visit the club website www.lutonanglingclub.co.uk/turnford.

To add to our continued stocking policy which have seen catfish, ide, barbel and chub into Beckerings Reservoir and carp into North House Lake along with carp and bream into the Grand Union Canal.  We have on order 2 x c8 carp for North House Lake which are growing on and will be around 27-28lb when delivered later in 2020.

LAC WEEKLY MATCH
The weather on Wednesday started fine but windy at Wyboston with an air temperature pushing 10C and a water temperature in the Ouse at 8.5C. The river had good colour in the water, but levels were high. There was expectation of a good day for their end of season river match, but there was a very strong flow ‪after Monday night‬’s unexpectedly heavy rain, which picked up through the day and made for challenging conditions.
Mark Brooks caught from the off with others struggling and missing bites. Barry Roper managed to find a shoal of bleak in the last hour and managed a few fish in the net.

Results
1st Mark Brooks 1lb 6oz
2nd Barry Roper 13oz
3rd Dennis Hunt 2oz
