A Bumper August Bank Holiday edition of our weekly news report this week as despite the wet and windy weather at the start of this week many of you have been out on the banks and have had good results so we have received lots of catch reports.
Beckerings Reservoir
Only the 2nd time on Beckerings for Paul Parkinson and a 48 hour session resulted in four fish, 2 carp the first at 19lb 10oz and the other at 16lb 1oz. He also had 2 decent sized Bream. All were caught on the mad baits iso cream on slip d rig with a pva stick of pellets.
Also at Beckerings Jason Wilson had a memorable session catching one of the reservoirs largest residents during a 48hr session at Beckerings - a Catfish weighing in at 61lb 4oz a new PB for him it took an hour to land it. He also caught his first Common carp at 16lb 10oz.
North House Lake
After his Beckerings success Paul Parkinson also fished at North House this week and managed a 20lb 7oz Mirror Carp again the tactic was a slip d rig using a wicked white popup and PVA stick of pellets.
Wyboston River Ouse
Wyboston regular Wojciech caught nice sized Tench at 6lb 1oz.
Grand Union Canal
Gareth Evans had a red letter day for on the Grand Union Canal. A New PB at 30lb 2oz , a beautiful 17lb mirror & also a 20lb mirror
Kempston Lake
Neil Cox continued his session on Kempston and sent in pictures of fish 3 and 4 that didn't quite make it in time for last week's report. Fish 3 was an 18lb 4oz Mirror and fish 4 was slightly larger at 18lb 14oz and was taken off the surface.
River Thames - Sonning
Luton members are able to fish this stretch via a water share agreement with Barnet and District Angling Club. This week a 15lb 2oz Barbel was reported via their Facebook page. A little further afield but well worth a trip if Barbel are a target species.
Match Report
Butch Murphy the league organiser sent in this report from the recent Sensas Oakwood League - Round 4 match at Ivinghoe.
"Ivinghoe fished brilliantly with 9 double figure weights and another 10 weights over 8lb out of a total of 30 anglers that's top canal fishing"
"Jason Cunningham (cadence) took 1st place with 19.9.0 - 3 big perch small skimmers and roach from A section at the Horton end of the boundary.
In Second place was Andy Gregory (Oakwood Green) who had small skimmers and roach from the same section for 12.3.0
In Third place was Ian Young (Oakwood Purple) fishing B section with 12lb of skimmers
The roach fed throughout the lowest section and the winning weight was 9.11.0
A brilliant match we couldn't have asked for more well done to Luton Angling Club for maintaining such a fabulous stretch of canal"
