Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area Week Ending 1st November 2020

Here is the weekly news and catch reports from Luton Angling Club. Unfortunately it has been a quiet week and we have only had a few reports in. The obvious big news this week is the second national lockdown from 5th November and how it will affect us all in our sport. The Angling Trust released a statement on their social media pages after lockdown was announced but we are still waiting for full clarification on how the different areas of our sport and our operations will be affected. In the meantime it is business as usual but members should be aware that we may have to make certain changes to comply with the latest restrictions. We do urge all our members to carefully follow the government guidelines to keep themselves and everyone around them safe from the Coronavirus.

ANGLING TRUST LOCKDOWN UPDATE - The Angling Trust is pleased that the government has recognised the value of allowing angling and other forms of outdoor recreation to continue - with members of your own household or with one other individual - through next month’s lockdown. It seems that tackle shops will still be able to operate a ‘click and collect’ service. So we are still fishing. Whilst we need to see the precise details in the regulations laid before Parliament on Monday it is likely there will be impacts on certain areas of our sport and we will update everybody just as soon as we are able to do so. Thanks for your patience

Please keep your eye on our website and social media pages as we will make further announcements as soon as we have official guidance from our governing bodies.

North House Lake
14 Year old Jacob Dean fished North House and had a fantastic result managing to beat his PB with a 26lb 4oz Common.

Bart Shmidt was also at North House and caught a 15lb 8oz Common on Wednesday morning which was to be his only fish during the 48hr session.

Steve Sye had a 24lb 9oz Common on Sunday Morning using Thripster fish combo.

Grand Union Canal
Dave Murdoch and Dave Farmer fished below Slapton lock for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon. This area usually fishes well but fishing was unusually tough and the fish were not having any of it. A Perch caught in the first five minutes prevented a total blank and was caught by Dave M using float fished worm. Dave F had a couple of missed bites early on using corn then nothing at all for the rest of the afternoon and went home with a dry net.

Match Reports
The Wednesday match group didn’t fish this week due to the Jacob half term holidays however they will be out again on Wednesday 4th November and the chosen venue is the River Ouse at Wyboston. As this is a a day ticket venue non-members are also welcome to attend this venue as they are able to buy a day ticket. These Wednesday matches are a bit of fun rather than serious competition so whatever your age or angling ability you are welcome to attend and take part. Meet in the parking area behind South Lagoon for a 9am Draw and fishing is from 10am to 3pm there is also an optional £5.00 pools.

Tight Lines……

Dave
