Wednesday Match Report
Nine met for the Wednesday Group match this week on the Town South section of the Grand Union Canal in Leighton Buzzard.
We were pleased to welcome a couple of new faces, Ash Bunnage and Roger Baker.
The day began with the sun shining after the Tuesday gales, but the day was more like early April than May. It started getting much colder at midday just before the heavy sleet started, which was followed by heavy rain, which suddenly stopped when the whistle blew at 3pm! Yet again the Wednesday group got wet!
The Canal temperature is still low, being around 10C, slowing the fishing.
Trevor and Ash Bunnage both started brightly having a good first hour, if it had kept up at that pace Trevor believed he would have been on for 30lb! He was taking Bream on white Fjuka pellet, the first time he had tried it, but as the cold front moved in his swim died as did others.
Nuala Gray caught bream steadily throughout the day on worm heads, and Richard Gibbs who was late arriving and missed the first hour struggled to catch until the last hour when after feeding quantities of chopped worm he had two large perch, the one of 3lb 2oz now being his Personal Best
Behind the top three there were some excellent backup weights. All enjoyed the day and the company.
We aim to be a friendly group who welcome those who come and join in with us, do come along if you want to give it a go, especially if you are a Luton Club member. As far as we are concerned the more the merrier, you need not be the greatest angler, we are happy to share information, just come along and enjoy the company and the general banter with us.
1st Nuala Gray 11lb 13oz
2nd Trevor Bunnage 10lb 5oz
3rd Richard Gibbs 7lb 8oz
4th Ash Bunnage 7lb 3oz
5th Dudley Frankland 6lb 9oz
6th John Gray 4lb 12oz
Next week we will fish Section 3, Three Locks towards Milton Keynes, meet in the Three Locks car park for a 9am walk off draw, £5.00 optional pools, Non-Members welcome on payment of a day ticket
Turnford Slipe Lane Pits - Work Party
A joint work party was carried out on Sunday by several of the consortium member clubs and many of the swims were cleared of fallen and overhanging branches and a general tidy up and litter pick carried out around the four pits.
Thats it for this week.
Tight Lines.
