Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 27th June 2021

Here is this weeks news and catch report round up from Luton Angling Club.

Beckerings Reservoir
Neil Cox had just the one from Beckerings at the weekend a Mirror at 23lb 13oz the fish looked like a proper old warrior. He chose the wrong side of the reservoir as he saw one lad have 13 fish in his usual favourite swim on the other side.

Lavendon Mill - River Ouse
Bailiff Bob Burdiak had a great session on the upstream section of the River Ouse at Lavendon this week. The river was in great condition with a steady flow and a hint of colour. Float fishing using wheat as bait he had a nice bag of Roach. All the bigger ones were on a small feeder with banded pellet. He should have caught many more but missed a lot of the bites. A Pike took the last Roach as it surfaced but he did manage to land the Pike and its weight was estimated at around 8lb.

Biddenham - River Ouse
Dave Murdoch spent a couple of hours Tuesday evening on the River at Biddenham. He fished one of the platforms that has recently been rebuilt by the bailiffs. He caught lots of small Perch using worm as bait which provided good sport but unfortunately none of the venues monster sized Perch showed up. He also caught a Jack Pike which grabbed his bait as he was reeling in.
Wyboston - River Ouse
Rob Dunthorne fished the river He was fishing for Chub using a light link leger using whole lobworm and caught some nice Roach and Perch.
North House Lake
Adrian Jaworski had a quick 2 hour session after work and caught a 19lb 4oz Common off the top.

On Saturday a work party took place and there was a fantastic turn out with quite a few attending to help out meaning that a huge amount of work took place including removing all the old otter fencing and tidying up of swims. Several snags were also removed from the water. A big thank you to all those that came along to help.

Wednesday Match Group Report - 23/6/21
Nine anglers met in the car park at Slapton on Wednesday and again we were pleased to welcome some new faces joining us for the first time on a lovely summer morning.
This week we all fished with high hopes numbers of the Bream known to inhabit Slapton would show, but instead many of us contacted quality roach and some decent Hybrids. The Canal at Slapton is now dotted with fry, visible in the clear water, which is a good indication the fish have spawned, so there are hopes the fishing will continue to improve.
Many started brightly catching on the 4 Metre line from the off mainly on Pinkie, we had a big wide beam go by after an hour and a half and several swims seemed to die at this point. Steve Lathwell continued catching on Pinkies, steadily building a decent weight through the day.
Myles Tommey caught patchily until the last hour when he found Roach taking large maggot just in front of the reeds and he caught steadily building his weight.
Colin Holmes had a decent Bream and a Hybrid and lost another bream during the day.
Others struggled, but it was pleasing to see Roger Baker one of our oldest regulars climbing the frame today and finishing 4th above Barry Roper, Dennis Hunt and Dudley Frankland this week.
Proof that the Coach training he did at Three locks a couple of weeks ago has borne fruit, well done Roger.
