Biddenham River Ouse
Fergal O Kane fished the River for his last time before the closed season comes into effect and managed 3 jack pike along with a few dace.
Beckerings Reservoir
Amer Jawad is loving Beckerings at the moment and had another haul of his target - 2lb+ Roach and also a huge bream which he said was great fun on the light gear he was using.
Neil Cox did a 48hr session over the weekend and managed to catch 3 nice sized carp. There was a cold south westerly wind when he arrived so he thought he would fish on the back of it. This paid off as he had a cracking mirror of 25lb and a smaller mirror at 19lb 15oz followed by a nice common at 03.30 Sunday morning at 20lb 2oz. All fish were caught on a new bait he is testing for Madbaits.
South Lagoon
Wojciech Weremij caught a nice 13lb 10oz pike yesterday at South Lagoon
Wednesday Match Report
Wednesday 9th March
How End Fishery
The Wednesday group had to change the match venue again this week, as due to the heavy rain since the start of the month we were worried about the river being unfishable. It was a shame we couldn’t get on the river at the end of the season but after speaking to our Bailiffs we decided to change and opted to go to one of the local commercial fisheries instead and decided on How End.
We had a couple of or members disappointed as they were unable to come because of illness, but 14 fished this week on what was possibly the warmest spring day of the year so far. It was great to see Simon Pavey out with us, recovering after his recent illness.
Fishing started slowly but as the day warmed more fish began to show.
Roger Baker fishing maggot on a pole took the largest perch he had ever seen in more than 60 years fishing at 3lb 8oz and couldn’t take the beaming smile off his face for the rest of the day.
Ray Burton who has only been fishing for just over a year and is recently back from holiday had a great day taking his first Tench, Barbel, and Carp, and was also made up with his catch.
Steve Lathwell had a flyer peg and took Barbel, Carp, Ide, and Skimmers to weigh 28 lb 5oz. Dave Britton weighed in 23lb 8oz for second and Simon Pavey weighed in 15lb 12oz despite breaking two very pricy pole sections, which made an expensive day.
Everyone really enjoyed the day out in great weather, and thanks must go to Phil Stone at How End for helping us change the venue at short notice and use Yasi’s’ lake this week.
We are back at this venue again in May.
