Here is the latest news and catch reports from Luton Angling Club week ending 20th March 2022.

Please send in pictures and catch reports from Luton AC waters as they are all automatically entered into our monthly competition, It is judged at the end of each month by the Luton AC committee and its not always the biggest fish that wins so well worth sending in all your catch pictures. Pictures can be submitted via our facebook page, website or Whats App to 07940 229071.

Monday was the last day of the river fishing season and anglers are reminded that fishing is not permitted at any of our river venues until the 16th June. All of our canal sections and stillwaters remain open year round.
North House Lake
Paul Sweet fished overnight at North House on Saturday and was woken early morning by this 20lb 5oz mirror which we have identified as Stockie 14 which was stocked at 6lb 4oz in October 2017. The 21 C3s we stocked back then all seem to be growing on at a phenomenal rate and are some stunning looking fish.
Beckerings Reservoir
Amer Jawad continued his quest for Roach at Beckerings this week but found the conditions tougher and bites harder to come by although the end result was what I would consider a good days fishing with a couple of cracking roach amongst a few other fish. Amer mentioned there were also a few carp crashing about around pegs 13-15.
For anyone interested Amer recently wrote an interesting article on Bream fishing at Beckerings and this can be found on the All-Round Angler website https://all-roundangler.com/bream-fishing/

Wednesday Match Group
Match Report, Wednesday 16th March Town South (The wet one!)
13 members of the Wednesday group met by the White Bridge on the Canal this week for the draw. The weather was overcast, with little wind and a temperature of 10 degrees with heavy rain forecast later.
The Canal was a much better colour, and fished better than two weeks ago, no longer being a deep mahogany colour. The weather stayed fine until 12:30, when the torrential rain started, and continued until the end of the match ensuring everything was thoroughly wet by the time we packed away.
Dave Abbot had a bite first drop in on bread punch and hooked a decent Bream which then threw the hook, Dennis Hunt had a roach that was weighed at 11oz on caster over groundbait.
Richard Darbon pegged on the far side of the Black bridge had a good day taking a roach that was estimated at over a pound, together with two big skimmers, and bits to weigh in over 6lbs using pinkies over groundbait.
Chris Howard fishing punch put a decent net of roach and skimmers together for 4lb 11oz. Barry Roper had two perch and skimmers for 3lb 15oz on pinkies.
One of the nice things about the catches today were the numbers of larger canal roach showing, together with some big perch. The quality of the pictures is not great this week due to the heavy rain and water on the lens!
