Wyboston - River Ouse
Fishing the River on the swims just past North House Lake, Paul Dunnett caught a nice fat Perch. It was taken on worm and although not weighed he estimated that it must have been getting on for the 3lb mark.

Beckerings Reservoir
Edward Allen and son Dexter spent the day lure fishing at Beckerings this week and tried a good mix of lures to keep the perch interested.

Edward had 2 better perch, with one on a spinner and one on a pike lure that was half the size of the perch! but most were hand sized. All good fun though. He also had a Jack (pictured) on a 5" surface lure. Dexter had a larger pike slip the hook on the same lure.

Sean Watts had a 20lb 15oz Mirror last weekend.

Bailiff Rob Thomas had one of the new carp that were stocked on 26th October. The fish Rob caught is number 30 and he's named it "The Corporal" as it has two stripes on its shoulder. The other bailiffs have reported that members have been catching some of the other new carp which is great news and looks like they are settling in well.

Eaton Ford - River Ouse
Nobby Clarke a regular visitor to our River stretches,  fished Eaton Ford with fellow member Geoff Cunliffe on Saturday. It was Geoff’s first visit to the venue and he fished peg 4. Nobby went in peg 2. It was raining when they arrived and it became steadily heavier for several hours.

Geoff had a mixed bag of decent Perch, Roach, Dace and Chublets while Nobby had around 20 Roach but sadly none of the bigger residents and no Bream. The river had good colour and great flow, Geoff fished the tip and Nobby fished a 2grm stick float, 17ft Rod with centrepin reel in about 10ft of water. Hemp was the main bait and feed , Nobby also caught a few on wheat and a couple on corn. They packed up about 2pm and still the rain came down and the wind gained momentum , the couple of photos he took are not the best so are not included but with the poor weather conditions he just wanted to get the net out and fish back.

Coaching & Let's Fish Updates
Belle Cording contacted us to say thanks for a fantastic fishing lesson for youngster Kaiya after they attended the free let's fish session at Canal Fields, Berkhamsted on 27th October. Belle said that Richard Gibbs was a fantastic coach and Kaiya really enjoyed herself again.

These free sessions have encouraged several youngsters into the sport and our Kingfisher Junior section is now building nicely due to the efforts of the Club coaches successfully recruiting at the Let's Fish taster sessions, and we have had a lot of success at recent CRT Celebration and Commonwealth games events with Cadet, Junior and Youth categories

We have now started our winter monthly off bank teaching sessions at Bushmead community centre on Saturday afternoons.

If anyone has young Anglers from age 7 up wanting to join us please contact the Club for more information.

Club Coaching Volunteer Opportunities.
There has been considerable interest about the Coaching Luton AC provide and we have recently had several enquiries from people interested in getting involved.

Should anyone be interested in Coaching and would like to find out about joining our team we would love to hear from you.

We need committed people who are good team players, good communicators and have angling experience. You would need to be DBS checked as part of the qualification for working with Children and Vulnerable adults.
We are a CRT ‘Premier’ Club and are expected to deliver ‘Lets Fish’ taster sessions to high standards both at weekends and school holidays and provide a follow-on coaching pathway for those who want to continue to learn after the initial ‘Lets Fish’ session.

These Club follow-on sessions are usually done on Saturday afternoons and aim to enable our students to be able to fish competently on their own, using several methods, and to compete in some organised competitions leading to the CRT Celebration held in September each year on the Shropshire Union. We also hold once a month ‘Off Bank sessions’ October to March on a Saturday afternoon.

While we already have some volunteers helping us run these events, the expectation is you would commit to gain at the minimum a Level 1 Support Coach angling coaching license qualification, which could be subject to a small bursary, and we would encourage L1 Coaches to continue and take L2 Lead Coach Qualifications which would enable you to run events yourself on the bank.

More information can be found here
https://anglingtrust.net/get-involved/coaching/level-1/

We would encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer Coach to contact the Club for further information, it can be a very rewarding experience.

The more coaches we have the more opportunities we can offer to people wanting to take up fishing.

Match Report, Wednesday 2nd November 2022 Three Locks (Upper)
On a cold autumn morning with the air temperature hovering at 8C after two days of heavy rain seventeen anglers met at Three Locks to fish. Now the weather is getting colder the trees along the canal are dropping their leaves with large floating mats forming in some places, making angling challenging.

The water after the recent rain was coloured and considerably colder, the midday temperature being 12C and the fish feeling cold but still seeming willing to feed. The anglers had to contend with a strong gusting breeze which veered in direction during the day, at times being strong enough to make holding a pole very difficult.

The light conditions were also changing from bright low sun to heavy overcast. We had five boats all day, three of which came through in convoy about 90 Mins into the match. The maximum air temperature reached 13C at Midday.
Numbers of methods were tried, the most successful this week being pole, with best baits being bread, pinkies and worm.

Our winner this week was Richard Gibbs who had a real red-letter day taking the biggest Perch he has ever caught in 60 years fishing. This tremendous fish weighing 3lbs (weighed separately) and was taken on worm as part of a bag that weighed 9lb 10oz. Second place was taken by Sean Leatherland with a mixed bag of Perch, Bream and Roach for 8lb 14oz. Third was taken by Richard Darbon with a bag of manly Perch for 6lbs, and fourth was Dave Abbott with a big Bream and bits for 5lbs.

The results in the mid table this week were extremely tight with several anglers tied for places and ounces separating the rest.
