Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 27th November 2022

Here is all of this week's news, information and catch reports from Luton Angling Club. If you want to send in your pictures and catch reports you can what's app them to 07940 229071 or send in to us via the club website or our social media pages.

There have been fewer reports this week, probably due to the poor weather.

NEW JUNIOR CLUB RECORD - DEXTER ALLEN 2lb 10oz PERCH
We reported Dexters 2lb 10oz Perch from the South Lagoon in last weeks edition. We are pleased to announce that the catch was submitted and accepted as a new Junior club record beating the current Junior record of 2lb 4oz 4dr which was caught from the Grand Union Canal back in 1991.

Although Dexter was targeting pike at the time, the perch decided it wanted his 10cm Fox zander pro shad that was mounted on a 5g jig head to a wire trace on his 40lb braided baitcaster setup it was overpowered very quickly but still gave a good account of itself.

BECKERINGS RESERVOIR
Reservoir bailiff Neil Cox had 5 carp during a 24hr session on Beckerings, All in double figures and the biggest went 18lb 14oz. All the fish were caught on mad baits wafters and pop ups. His top tip is to watch till they show where they are.

WEDNESDAY MATCH GROUP REPORT
23 November 2022 - Eaton Ford
After the high attendances in recent weeks, the match at Eaton Ford was attended by only four anglers due to the other regular attendees having various prior appointments, meetings, work commitments, and illness this week, After the extremely heavy rain this week, this was probably just as well because the main river was running through at a rate of knots and the lower pegs were difficult to access because of the ground conditions.
Stewart, our friendly venue bailiff, met us and advised against going down that way, and the four present decided to fish the back water.
Just to make us feel at home, it started to pour down with rain again and a gusting wind got up as the day started. However, later in the morning, we had some sun to dry us out, but another heavy shower appeared before close of play. We fished 9.45 to 14.30.
All those fishing reported having fun despite the weather!

COACHING UPDATE
The club coaching team held the second of their winter 'off bank' sessions for the young Kingfisher anglers on Saturday afternoon, which everyone enjoyed.
They started with a simple general angling quiz, and then went on to demonstrate setting up a seatbox properly, followed by some practice in controlling a long pole potting a ping pong ball into different size targets.
After that they did a bit of knot tying practice learning a simple clinch knot.
The next session is Saturday 10th December, and they have lots of ideas from the lads on what they want to do on that afternoon already.
