Match Report - River Ouse, Wyboston.
2nd August 2023 - Report by Richard Gibbs
The day started overcast and damp with rain in the air. Despite the Met Office warnings of a tempest akin to biblical proportions, 8 anglers turned out for today's match suitably dressed and prepared for the worst the weather could throw at them. The river looked in good form with a little colour, steady flow, and many fish topping. As the day progressed the dire weather failed to materialise, and apart from a couple of very short showers and gusts of wind, it turned out to be a very pleasant day with blue sky and sun putting in an occasional appearance.
Our winner this week was the 'in form' Adrian Smith.
Adrian fished the pole at 11 metres with a 2 grm float to take a mostly Roach catch (apart from a Perch of 2lbs 12ozs) of 9lbs 4ozs on stewed wheat. Richard Gibbs fished a 2 grm float on a 9m whip to take Roach, Perch, small Chub and Bleak on maggot for 6lbs 9ozs and second place. Simon Foulkes first time at the venue saw him take third place with 3lbs exactly.
