Here is the round up of Luton Angling Club news, information and catch reports for the week ending Sunday 3rd November 2024.
Biddenham - River Ouse
John Gentle visited the Biddenham stretch of the ouse this week and found the river in perfect condition, he had a great session catching a lovely net (18lb) of Roach on bolo, red maggots, and corn.
River Ouse
Jason Mash sent us in pictures of some Perch he had at an undisclosed Luton AC River Ouse venue. He had 4 takes, he landed two fish, and lost another perch at the net which was bigger than the one he's holding. He says thanks to Kieran for taking the picture.
South Lagoon Wyboston
South Lagoon continues to produce numbers of small carp we believe are escapees from other venues during the recent flooding.
Scott Sharpe a day ticket angler had two nice carp out of South Lagoon early on this week, a common and a mirror and he also had a bream at 3lb. The common was caught on his last cast
Scott returned again this weekend and had another little common of 6lb from peg 6, it was again caught on his last cast just as he was about to pack up.
Those who are Predator fishing are also getting some good results, Andrew Elliman had 5 pike from peg 26 last Sunday he had a fantastic day and loved every minute of it.

In other news, we are pleased that the South Lagoon has been by the chosen by the Environment Agency to take part in a five year survey to monitor the condition of the water.
This will include a seasonal survey of the bank side and aquatic vegetation, a monthly water condition check they will also take a yearly water sample to establish the fish species that are present in the Lagoon via DNA.
These checks will mean the EA will need to launch a small boat for certain checks, the club will not close the water during the EA visits but they may cause some minor disruption to anglers on the day, we will be advertising the affected days in advance.
Wednesday Match Group Report - How End Yassi's
Wednesday's match saw the match group return to How End Fishery. This weeks match was on Yassi's
With the drop in temperature, the resident carp did not show in numbers leaving those with barbel, small carp and a decent catch of silver fish making up the main places.
This week's winner was Steve Lathwell. Steve drew peg 4 and decided to concentrate his fishing for the lakes Ide. Fishing about half a metre from the far bank island, Steve fished with a caster to catch mainly Ide and a few small carp fishing shallow. He also caught some barbel in the margin for an overall weight of 42lb 8ozs.
Second was Adrian Smith on peg 15. Having had one of his pole sections broken by a large carp early in the match, he focused the rest of his match by switching between 3 points tight to the far bank rushes. He caught a mixed bag of fish on double maggot before a change to sweetcorn on the hook produced a better run of fish to weigh in 34lb 2oz.
Richard Darbon came third on peg 12. Fishing double maggot and using a top 2 plus one pole section, Richard caught some nice carp which backed up with some chub and silvers gave him a total weight of 26lb 2 ozs.
The next Wednesday match is 6th Nov when the match group fish the River Ouse at Eaton Ford. Meet at the venue for the draw at 8.30am. £1.00 peg fee and £5.00 optional pools, fish 10am till 3pm.

Luton AC Sunday Series Match report from Sunday 27th October
With recent weather conditions and access taken into consideration the Sunday Series monthly match had a venue change to Town South on the Grand Union Canal.
15 Anglers turned out on a mild day with the odd outbreak of sunshine. Whilst weights were not outstanding, with the drop in overnight temperature, everyone caught fish and the match turned into a tight affair.
In Second and beaten by one 1/4 oz was Ian Orbell. Ian was putting in his first appearance on this year's Sunday Series and showed his class to weigh 5lb 0oz 12drm. Drawn on peg 2 opposite the flats Ian alternated pole lines but caught the majority of his mixed bag of fish at 8 metres fishing pinkie.
In third place was Pete Smith. Drawn on peg 5 near to white bridge, Pete caught a nice mixed bag small fish to weigh 4lb 1oz.
The next Sunday Series match is Sunday 24th Nov on the GUC at Town South. We may look to change the venue to a river so keep a lookout for updates. Meet at the venue for the draw at 8.30am am. £1.00 peg fee and £5.00 optional pools, fish 10am till 3pm.
