Firstly we would like to wish everyone a a Very Happy New Year and we hope that 2026 brings you tight lines, many new PB's and lot's of enjoyable days on the bank.
We have ended this week with most of our lakes frozen over due to the very cold temperatures. At the time of writing this report North house is covered by a thick layer of Ice, South Lagoon is also almost fully frozen over except for a small area far out in the middle by the fountain. Beckerings is frozen around some of the margins although is not fully frozen at this time.
Rivers are looking in good condition for those eager to get out on the bank. Please let us know how you get on if you do get out.

South Lagoon and River Ouse at WybostonLast week, on 21st December, Kletos managed a 16lb 4oz Pike from South Lagoon, the fish was captured right at the end of the day.
He was helped by a really nice gentleman called Eddie who assisted with the netting and weighing, which was much appreciated. The best result of the year for Kletos on his first season back on the bank for a number of years, came this week when on Monday 29th December his son Nathaniel caught a 5lb Chub during their session on the River Ouse at Wyboston.
The fish was caught with Legered Worms just a stones throw from the nearside bank just as the day turned into darkness. It was a great looking fish and certainly larger than any Chub Kletos has ever caught.
He has submitted a Junior Club Record claim on Nathaniels behalf.
Mark North fished the River at Wyboston on Tuesday. He fished a stick float with maggot and had a few dace and chub.

Wednesday Match Group - 2025 End of Year Roundup.
Our Wednesday outings for 2025 ended with our Christmas match and Celebration buffet at The Globe on 17th December. It was the end of another successful year, where we have all enjoyed the general atmosphere, company, banter and general support we try to give each other and had a good time each week. The weather hasn’t always been kind, and we seemed to have more than our fair share of rainy Wednesdays, but that’s fishing!
To all those who fish with us and haven’t enjoyed the best of health this year or have undergone medical treatments and operations we wish you all well, and we hope you have felt supported, you were certainly missed, as will be Dave Smith who sadly passed away earlier this year.
To those who joined us for the first time on Wednesdays we hope you have enjoyed fishing with us and will want to continue to do so.
Thanks to everyone who has helped to run the outing every week, it is a team effort given the numbers and work involved, but Ray, Barry, Tracey and Terry are all deserving of mention for the effort they put in, so a very big thank you from everyone.
The fishing like the weather has been a bit up and down, but we have made the most of it and enjoyed ourselves, and we have some great stats this year, thanks again to Tracey and Ray for their hard work.
Some Interesting Match Group Stats for 2025
This year 43 different Luton AC members have taken part in the 45 Wednesday matches (to 10 December), including 4 juniors. We have collectively had 657 angler participation visits, an average of 14.6 anglers per match, resulting in collectively 3,285 hours on the bank (136 days & 21 hours) Our record attendance was 17th December where 26 fished.
Terry Vickers attended the most matches with 40 appearances, followed by Ray Burton, Simon Foulkes and Dave Ridley all with 35 appearances.
The total weight of fish caught by all Wednesday anglers over the 45 matches was 4,371lb 10oz , with two anglers getting over 100lb in an individual match, Jack O’Brien (one of our talented Juniors) at How End and Colin Kidd at St Albans Lakes.
There have been 22 different match winners, Simon Foulkes leading the way with 8 wins, followed by Richard Gibbs and Sean Leatherland with 5 each and Andy Frankum with 3 wins.
26 different venues have been fished, giving 16 canal matches, 11 river matches and 18 commercial/lake venues We have used 27 club venues and 18 "away" venues.
Another interesting and important statistic which was pointed out by Tony Hickmott having been overlooked by the author of this round up (Dennis Hunt) was the 1,314 Werthers Original
sweets consumed by the group.
The annual Hotfishin' league has been strongly contested again this year with Sean Leatherland securing the title with one week to go, leaving Andy Frankum and Simon Foulkes fighting it out for 2nd and 3rd place in the final match on 17th December.
The final placings were:
1. Sean Leatherland 356 points

We now start our winter break, and won’t fish again as a group until February.
We hope Club members and others enjoy reading our match reports each week and all of the match group wish you all a great New Year, and ‘Tight Lines’ for 2026
