Luton Angling Club - Weekly News, Information and Catch Report Roundup - Week Ending 11th January 2026

Here is this weeks news, information and catch report round up for the week ending 11th January 2026.

With temperatures plunging, many of our waters have spent the week locked under ice. Storm Goretti then added to the challenge, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds through the latter part of the week. Unsurprisingly, opportunities to get out on the bank have been few, and most members sensibly chose to stay warm at home. As a result, our catch reports are understandably sparse this week.

Our bailiffs have continued to keep members informed about conditions across the venues. With forecasts suggesting a slight rise in temperatures over the coming week, we’re hopeful that the ice will clear and our waters will be fully fishable again soon.

As of Saturday 10th January the latest reports from our venues are as follows.

Beckerings: 90% frozen but thawing out with pegs 3 -16 fishable up to 2 rod lengths out.

South Lagoon: About 70% of the lagoon is now fishable just the shallower end still frozen.

North House Lake:Still fully frozen over.

If you are out and about and are passing any of our venues, a quick photo and/or message via our social media pages showing current conditions is always appreciated and will be used to keep other members up to date with current venue and water conditions.

Biddenham - River Great Ouse
The only catch report we've had this week was from Daniel Hymus who fished the Biddenham stretch of the River Ouse and had 2 Pike, The biggest was 11lb.

UPDATE TO SHOOT DATES BECKERINGS:
Members should be aware that Beckerings Reservoir will be CLOSED all day on the following two dates.
Thursday 15th January 2026
Friday 23rd January 2026
These closures are due to shooting events that will take place around and inside the perimeter of the venue, therefore we have been asked to close the venue.
No night bookings will be taken for overnight on the 14th & 15th January or the 22nd & 23rd January.

That’s all we have for this week. If you do manage to get out for a session, we’d really appreciate an update, catch report or photo to help keep everyone informed.

Stay warm, stay safe, and tight lines to those venturing out.
