Damien Fitzpatrick did a 48 hour session on Beckerings on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, he was trying some new bait out. He had no luck the first night and he thought at some points that his bivvy might be blown away in the storm, luckily it wasn't! He decided to move to a new spot first thing in the morning and what a good decision that turned out to be as he ended up beating his personal best and landing 3 carp and 4 bream, first came a 26lb 4oz mirror then a 29lb 2oz Mirror which is his new PB

Two new Junior Club Records
Junior member Nathaniel Pantazi stole the show during the presentation of the awards at the AGM. His 5lb Chub from the Ouse at Wyboston is a new Junior Club Record along with an Eel he had from South Lagoon. He was also awarded specimen awards for a 28lb 9oz Common Carp from South Lagoon. Nathaniel is turning into a skilled young angler, his dad Kletos was also a Junior record holder between 1991 and 2022.

If you catch a fish that meets the minimum weights needed for our specimen awards its well worth submitting a claim. We also know many of our club records have been beaten over the years but unfortunately these are seldom officially claimed. You can find details on how to claim a club record or specimen award in your membership book.

Match Report Three Locks 25th March 2026
Well, what a change a week can bring! After the warmest day of the year last week, we got a hairy day on the bank this Wednesday with all the seasons in one go.
Following a change in the weather and a cold night, we had the mad March winds gusting up to 40 mph at times, extremely cold periods with dark overcast and hailstones and periods where the sun shone which felt much warmer and gave welcome relief.
When the guys pegged below the lock tried to return to the car park, they found the way blocked by a huge tree which had come down across the towpath.
The tree was on the bank of the small stream that runs under the road and into the canal just before the bend, narrowly missing a wide beam Canal boat. The stream has just been dredged with the ground scraped to clean the local area. The tree was very rotten at ground level which is obviously why it fell.
Our Guys had to manhandle their gear and make their way through the wreckage, helping each other to get back to the car park. We had phoned CRT who attended quickly and were on site before the last angler had cleared the obstacle.
There were a very large number of boats moored in the area (possibly seeking shelter from the winds) which meant we could only get 7 pegs on the upper and the remaining 8 on the lower section. The water temperature was measured at 10 C.
Given the weather it really wasn’t too much of a surprise that the fishing was extremely challenging, and we had several DNW this week especially below the Lock where the wind just about counteracted the tow on the water, and Colin Holmes managed to take the only decent fish in this section, a 2lb 4oz Bream.
Above the lock was more sheltered and we did find some fish, but holding a pole was extremely challenging making long pole fishing very awkward.
Tim Watts our winner chose to use a waggler float on rod and line over. Tim found the presentation was not ideal but on a hard day this approach coupled with heavier floats than normal on a short pole setup seemed to work, and Tim weighed in 2lb 8oz
Second above was Chris Howard with 2lb 4oz. Due to the weather Chris stayed fishing down the track. Using punch bread resulted in tiny Roach giving him lots of bites which were difficult to hook, but even if you hooked one, they fell off due to the wind. Chris tried to feed them off with regular balls of liquidised bread and hemp fishing fluro pinkie, which seemed to work as he then caught a slightly better stamp of fish.
Third above was Sean Leatherland with 1lb 10oz. Sean caught most of his on Punch on a line at 11 meters. When bites dried up he used squatt and pinkie on the hook, switching between the Punch and pinkie to keep bites coming. Sean had a mixed bag of roach perch and gudgeon
Special thanks to Ray Burton for doing the admin with pools and peg fees and Barry Roper for pegging this week, and all who helped with the weigh in
