Match Report, Town North 2nd Feb 2022
With the days starting to draw out again this week was the eagerly anticipated Wednesday Group return to the bank after our January break.
We had 12 anglers turn up to fish, despite some regulars being absent through illness or having to isolate. It was great to see Chris Howard fit and back on the bank again after his recent hospitalisation.
Wednesday was a bright mild day, with a breeze, giving rise to a ripple and surface water movement, so conditions were challenging, some anglers benefitting with swims more sheltered than others.
All fishing caught with no dry nets, bread being the most successful bait, with Chris Howard taking most of his fish on it, Bart Bonito caught on bread at 5 metres at the start and then moved out fishing Pinkie over groundbait.
A few fish were taken on worm down the track, with others fishing Squatt.
Ray Burton hooked and lost a large fish early on, believed to be a pike, which was confirmed later as it returned several times to attack his keepnet during the afternoon.

Grand Union Canal
The bailiff was told from a few sources that a 7 year old boy had a 23lb Pike from the canal in Leighton Buzzard. He was shown a photo which we were told would be sent to us unfortunately we are yet to receive it. A crowd gathered while the lad played the fish and his granddad had to hold his waist as he was worried the fish might pull him in. A fish of a lifetime for a youngster hopefully we will get the pictures.

Despite the rain and strong winds 14 year old Natalia was back out on the Canal at Section 10 today continuing with her litter picking as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award. Disappointingly some of the litter gathered today was clearly angling related - Take Your Litter Home!!. Well done Natalia keep up the good work!

That's all for this week
