Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - Week Ending 22nd May 2022

Here is this all weeks news and catch reports from Luton  Angling Club. Its the time of year when the carp start spawning. We will not be closing any venues as its difficult to predict and the fish can start and stop spawning over a few weeks depending on the conditions.

Please be respectful, spawning fish are not interested in your bait and fishing for them can harm them and they are put in danger of being foul hooked, the quicker they get this over with the quicker things will be back to normal. We will keep you updated on spawning via the club facebook page.

Keep your catch reports coming in via facebook and our website. You can also what's app your reports and pictures to 07940 229071.

North House Lake
After the work party on Sunday Neville Hunt stayed on and fished and had a nice Tench of around 4lb on the feeder.
During the mini work party on Sunday the addition of smaller mesh to the older section of otter fence was completed. We also repaired some of the damage and breaches caused by the rabbits around the perimeter of the fence. The gate opener mechanism was also improved. Thanks to the volunteers that helped out.

Beckerings Reservoir
Craig Mahoney had a 15lb 7oz Common.
After hearing about the carp spawning at Beckerings Daryl Vardy left them to it and targeted the cats instead, He wasn't disappointed as at 12.30am line was melting off his reel. After a goliath battle one of the larger cats was in the net at 61lb. At around 05.30am the same rod tore off. The battle wasn't quite as brutal as the first one but it still took line like he had hooked a train and after a fight it was in the net at 52lb
Rod Gladston and Grandson Charlie caught Commons just as the sun was setting at the end of a glorious day.
Bailiff Rob Thomas carried out some general maintenance cutting the grass in the car park to make more space and also cleared the vegetation from the verge at the main gate to improve visibility when leaving the venue.
Match Report 18/05/22
Grand Union Canal - The Globe

20 anglers met in the sunshine on Wednesday morning at the Globe car park, joining us were 3 new anglers to the club John Barton, Graham Bulmar and Mick Copperwheat. Due to the number fishing  and the volume of boats moored south of the Globe we elected to have 2 sections, one above and one below the bridge. Boat traffic was minimal and not an umbrella in sight! With the temperature climbing, the fish were on the move and some good weights were recorded.

Top weights below the bridge: Colin Macbeth netting 19lb 13oz, mostly bream on worm and bread on the pole, Dudley Frankland was second 18lb 14oz taking a carp of 7lb on the tip on worm.

The section above the bridge Steve Lathwell 9lb of bream and skimmers on worm and caster, fishing the pole at 13mtrs, new man Graham Bulmar was second with 6lb 12oz  his fish taken on the method with corn on the hook.
