Here is all of the news, information and catch reports from Luton Angling Club for the week ending Sunday 12th November 2023.
A slow week for reports this week please send in all your catch reports as we really do need them at this time of year!
Beckerings Reservoir
Darren Savage fished Beckerings for the Roach this week and while using only 3lb line and a size 16 hook this 26lb 11oz Common decided to take the bait. Amazingly Darren was able to carefully play and land the fish which must have been a real challenge on such light gear. He also had a Roach and numerous small perch during the session.
A few years ago we stocked Ide into Beckerings reservoir all at around 6-8" in size these Ide have grown very well and are now around the 2-3lb mark. To complete the last phase of our 2023 stocking program we added a further 300 6-8" Ide from the same supplier (Epperstone Park Hatcheries) These fish are fast growing and feed well all year round so provide good fun for our members.
South Lagoon
On Sunday, Fergal O'Kane had a 10lb 4oz Pike on Smelt
North House Work Party
On Saturday the wpork party crew assembled at North House Lake and carried out general venue maintenance. We cleared a number of snags from the water, thinned the reeds on some of the swims, cleared undergrowth around the otter fence and trimmed overhanging branches that encroached swims. A huge thanks to the volunteers who assisted.
I apologise if I miss anyone here... Brian and Kieran Turner, Neville Hunt, Dennis Vivian, Fergal O'Kane, Bob Burdiak, Mark Brooks, David Murdoch, Josh Townsend, Barry Stevenson, Daniel Hussey,David Nicholson, Des Saunders and not forgetting Andy Smith who did a fantastic job feeding and watering the volunteers. Also, I can't forget 5 year old Mason who did a great job on his first Luton AC work party.

Match Report 8th November 2023 Yasis, How End
As we gathered at How End for this week’s match on Wednesday morning, it was dark and wet following a cold night. Fortunately, as we were unloading our cars and doing our draw, the rain eased, and then stopped, and the breeze dropped, although it wasn’t terribly warm.
The lake had good colour, and anglers could see the occasional fish topping as we set up, and all of us were looking forward to a good day.
Jim Tookey had a red-letter day, Jim fished two lines one at 9 Mtrs and another margin line feeding 4mm Pellets with 6mm pellets on the hook to end with a catch of mostly Carp for 104lb 9oz.
Sean Leatherland took second place, fishing single red maggot over small nuggets of groundbait midway across weighing 64lb 10oz.
Third place this week was taken by Myles Tommey. Myles started off fishing maggot over small balls of groundbait, but was only catching Ide, with odd small Barbel, so he switched tactics feeding micro pellet and banded pellet hookbait and started to catch the Carp ending with 59lbs.
All of us enjoyed the day despite the inclement weather, and as usual we record our very many thanks to Phil, Tanya and Pip at How End and to those who helped run the day, especially Tracy and Ray for doing the weigh in for us.
