Raymond Lambert enjoyed a short early session targeting Tench. Fishing with worm, he had two bites — landing a 6lb 2oz Tench with a rudder-like tail and a surprise Mirror Carp of 10lb 6oz.

Martin Scholes had a superb 48-hour session, landing 23 fish. The smallest was 8lb 3oz, and the highlight was a new PB of 27lb 14oz. His haul included:
Numerous low doubles
Several upper doubles
Four fish over 20lb
One lost fish estimated at 25lb+
Only four Bream this time!

π Grand Union Canal – Leighton Buzzard
Phil and Callum Anderson began their morning on the town stretch but found bites hard to come by. After relocating to the Grove Church stretch, they found success fishing the middle section with maggots and size 20 hooks.
Skimmers and perch dominated

πΆ Grand Union Canal – Braggenham Side (Match Report)
π Wednesday 13th August π₯ 18 anglers attended
Despite promising conditions, the canal fished hard due to warm weather and heavy boat traffic. The first boat through — the Jules Fuels pair — stirred up silt and didn’t help matters!
π Winner: Sean Leatherland (8lb 4oz) – On his birthday, no less! π₯ 2nd: Bart Bonito (7lb 2oz) – Lost three skimmers early, but adjusted and finished strong π₯ 3rd: Dudley Frankland (5lb 0oz) – Mixed punch, pinkie, maggot, and feeder tactics

π Slapton – 10th August π₯ Ian Orbell – 10lb 9oz π₯ Adrian Smith – 2lb 8oz Ian’s chopped worm tactic tight to the far bank produced perch and skimmers, with a late bream sealing the win.
π Mud Flats (Stapleford Rd Bridge) – 3rd August π₯ Peter Mills – 4lb 8oz π₯ Keith Ward – 4lb 3oz Pete’s mixed approach edged out Keith’s steady perch haul, with a bonus skimmer making the difference.

Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) has been identified. These blooms pose risks to both fish and humans.
π€ Health Risks Include:
Skin rashes, eye irritation
Gastroenteritis, liver damage
Rare neurological effects
π£ Anglers – Please Take Precautions:
Don’t put wet lines or tackle in your mouth
Wash hands before eating and after fishing
Cover cuts/grazes with waterproof plasters
Algae can also affect dissolved oxygen levels — please watch for fish in distress.
