Luton Angling Club Weekly News Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area - 5th July 2026

Here is the weekly round up of news, information and catch reports from Luton Angling Club for the week ending 5th July 2026.

River Ouse at Wyboston

Kletos and his son Nathaniel have been concentrating on the River at Wyboston since the start of the season and have had some good results so far.
This weekend Nathaniel had 7 Bream between 4lb and 6lb and this Tench at 6lb 2oz.
Kletos also had a Tench at 5lb 7oz and another 6 Bream upto 6lb.
They also have lost a few bigger fish too even though we are fishing quite heavy owing to quite a bit of weed.
They credit the Bailiffs and work party team for the work they've done at the venue in clearing some of the swims and the trimming back of bushes etc it makes a massive difference.

North House Lake
Damien Fitzpatrick had 48 hours at North House Lake… and he said what a session it was!
He managed to land 8 stunning carp over the 48 hours, and every single one put up an incredible fight.
Fishing in some seriously heavy weed made things challenging, and unfortunately he lost another 5 fish, but that’s all part of the game.
Every bite came to a Voodoo Baits Forbidden Fruit pop-up fished on a Helicopter Ronnie Rig over a bed of Match the Hatch pellets, boilies,
common 19lb 8oz forbidden fruit

The biggest a 20lb 2oz Common then a 19lb 8oz common and 6 mirrors up to 16lb

Frank Natale fished on Monday and Tuesday After getting off the mark early with a stunning 17lb Mirror, he went on to land four more carp to round off a fantastic trip weights were 16lb, 14lb 17lb and anoher smaller Mirror he didn't weigh. The fish were caught using a mix of voodoo baits two falling to a Voodoo Baits Dark Spell boilie and three being tempted by a Forbidden Fruit pop-up.

Match Report 1st July GUC Ivinghoe
This week for a bit of fun we had decided to have a Rod & Line only running line event with a maximum rod length of 14ft.
We met by Ivinghoe bridge for our draw and decided because of the football at 5pm to fish 9-30 until 2-30 this week to give those who wanted to watch the match a better chance of getting home in time.
After the recent hot weather, the day was cooler and overcast with very little wind and occasional sun peeping through the sometimes very black clouds which threatened rain, at times becoming very humid.
We pegged the match with 5 swims below and 5 above Ivinghoe lock, a venue we hadn’t fished for some time as it is quite a long walk. We weren’t really bothered by boats having a couple pass us just as we started and a few more towards the end, but It did fish somewhat patchily. It was a perfect day to use the old skills most of us grew up with, fishing a waggler on the Canal with a slight ripple and the canal holding reasonable colour.
After reaching his peg and doing some extreme gardening, match winner Sean Leatherland eventually found the canal. With setting up delayed, on the whistle, he put in 5 balls of groundbait laced with caster and micro pellets on a line just off the opposite boats before setting up a waggler rig. First fish was a small perch followed by a run of 9 large bream (averaging 3 lb) and the odd perch on single red maggot. Then a boat went through dispersing the shoal and in the last half of the match he picked up smaller skimmers, perch and a couple of roach for a winning weight of 33lb 1oz
Tim Watts who was pegged on the path below the lock managed to keep roach coming from various areas of his swim for most of the day by tweaking his setups and his feeding. Tim had a good few nice Roach in last hour on hemp, ending up with 92 fish which went 9lb 1oz to take second in match.
Dennis Hunt was on the boats above the lock and fished about ¾ over on the edge of the track towards the boats. Dennis caught steadily in the morning before experiencing a lull at lunchtime, picking up again in the last ¾ hour. Dennis found the best bait to be red pinkies over groundbait and took a nice net of skimmer and roach to end on 3lb 11oz.
Many thanks to those who did the admin and the weighing teams, again a great team effort which got us off the bank and away home in double quick time!
