Beckerings Reservoir
The maintenance work around the reservoir is now complete and we are pleased to announce that at long last we now have the reservoir protected against predation by a purpose built Otter fence. Members must keep gates closed at all times and must not lean any tackle or equipment against the fence.
Neil Cox reports that Tench are being caught at around 4-5lb.

Please be aware that the Wednesday match group are holding their weekly match on Beckerings this week as a result the car park will be extremely busy on Wednesday.

North House Lake
Ethan Griffiths fished a 48hr session and had 9 bites and landed 6 fish. One of the lost fish felt like a very large fish.
Biddenham River Ouse
It may be the closed season on our river venues but the venue bailiffs are still active at the river venues keeping the venues secure and in tip top shape ready for the 16th June. Bailiff Des Saunders set out to replace some rotten boards on one of the bridges at Biddenham but during the work found one of the joists was rotten. He has replaced the joists and boards and the bridge is as good as new. The club has some fantastic bailiffs and volunteers who just crack on and get the jobs done the club is extremely grateful for all their hard work.

Coaching Update
On Saturday the Luton AC Coaches held their first on the bank coaching session of the year for the Club Juniors. It was held on the canal at Three Locks.
The session was well attended and most of the juniors who came have fished with us before and have been improving their skills by attending our classroom sessions that were held throughout the winter.
Everyone caught fish during the day and two of our young anglers had red letter days with some fantastic fish being caught, both had personal best fish that were weighed on verified scales.
Sam Chamberlain landed a Perch of 2lb 6 oz caught using his pole using maggot as bait, and Hugo Hall landed a big hybrid Roach / Bream after a super scrap on his waggler rod using Pinkies and it weighed 3lb 5oz. One of the young ladies also took a nice roach taken on bread punch and liquidised bread
Both Sam and Hugo represented Luton AC when they competed in the CRT Celebration event in Shropshire last September and enjoyed it so much they are already booked to go again this year.
Do you know a junior angler who would like to join the Club and fish with us?
If you do please message us and we'll put you in touch with the coaching team.

Match Report, Wednesday 13 April
Three Locks to Chelmscote Bridge Section 4A
When this Wednesday we met in the car park at Three Locks we found we had a record Luton turnout of 18 anglers to fish the Inter Club against our friends from Wellingborough, who fielded a team of 9, making a match of 27 Pegs, the largest Luton hosted match for many years.
The was no overnight frost, the morning being mild and overcast. There were some rain showers and drizzle during the day, but not enough to trouble the anglers. The water was holding good colour, but still cold, midday temperature being 12 degrees. As it’s the run up to a Bank holiday there were several boats during the morning, including one extremely large new hull being towed by a Narrowboat, which caused some disturbance.
The fishing is in early spring mode and is still challenging so there were several dry nets among those fishing.
The overall winner was Wellingborough Chairman Ivor Stokes who weighed 9lb 8oz. Ivor lost another two bream and a carp during the day, taking his fish on bread punch. Second overall was Wellingborough’s Steve Rook with 5lb 15oz and third and the first Luton angler was Dave Abbott with 4lb 14oz and then Tony Hickmott with 4lb 5oz. Perch over 2lb were taken, Richard Gibbs taking one on chopped worm, with several anglers reporting lost bream and a carp.
Many thanks to all who helped organising the draw and assisted with the weigh in today, and we hope our guests from Wellingborough enjoyed their day with us as much as we did.
Overall, taking the top 9 results on each side Luton took the day 27lb 8oz to 23lb 5oz
