Kingfisher (Juniors) follow on Coaching pathway, How End Saturday 15th April.
With the Easter Holidays coming to an end 7 of our young Kingfisher members accompanied by our coaches and their parents, fished Yasi’s Lake at How End. The day started overcast after some very heavy overnight rain, but as we met, the sky started to clear, and the sun came out, making it a very pleasant day.
The lake was coloured after the heavy rain, and the lads chose to practice fishing using both Pole and Feeder, using Pellet and Maggot as bait. All the young anglers caught well catching Ide, Barbel, Chub, Bream Tench, and Carp.
Several caught personal best fish amongst their catches today, the biggest fish taken being a Carp of about 10lb caught by Cody while he was practicing on a feeder setup.
We had a range of abilities on the bank, two of the lads having only fished twice, and others with a lot more experience and it was great to see people sharing information on methods, and tackle.
All those on the bank, our young anglers, coaches, and parents really enjoyed the day. Everyone did really well, and we all came away having learnt something.
The Club has high hopes for this very talented group of young anglers.
Very many thanks to Phil, Tanya and Pip at How End for their extremely generous welcome today.
Remember, if you know anyone wanting to book a place on our next Public CRT ‘Lets Fish’ Session it’s in Leighton Buzzard on 30th April and can be booked using the link below.

Match Report 12th April Danni’s Lake How End, the windy one!
After a night with heavy overnight rain 12 intrepid anglers met in the car park at How End this week on a lovely morning with an azure blue sky. It wasn’t to last and the day’s abysmal weather forecast proved correct!

The lake was holding good colour, and a water temperature of 11C, and as we moved off to the pegs the wind started to pick up, and waves increased, bringing with it a chill feel and few spots of rain. A variety of methods were tried, feeder and pole and waggler all being tried with a variety of baits, including Maggot, Pellet & worm.

Steve Lathwell started on the tip rod fishing towards the island, with a guru hybrid feeder. He had one carp in the first two hours, and then moved to a top 2+2 line on the pole for 45 minutes. This wasn’t productive either, so Steve moved to another line on the margin slope where he started catching. All his fish came to 4 mm hard pellet using an 18 hook. Steve ended with 37lb 11oz for 1st place this week.

Richard Darbon fished own the inside on his recently acquired margin pole, close to the platform using dead red maggot, taking 20lb 5oz for 2nd.

Dennis Hunt started on the tip by the island, but although having a few twitches it didn’t produce any fish. He then moved to a pole line at 5 sections and started to pick up some nice silvers, but as the wind strengthened and the gusts increased he moved to a top 3 line under his feet and started to catch better stamp fish, ending with 19lb 3oz for 3rd.

All the anglers lost good fish in the windy conditions, Dennis losing one when his landing net blew away as he went to pick it up to land a carp.
With the weather worsening and wind speed increasing, and the sky turning a threatening dark indigo with an approaching storm we decided to curtail our match at 2pm which enabled most to get back to the car park before the hail started.

It was an eventful day, and hence no pictures this week!
