A few of the carp have started showing signs of spawning in North house, please be respectful, they are not interested in your bait, fishing for them can harm them and they are in danger of being foul hooked, the quicker they get this out of their system the quicker things will be back to normal.

Beckerings Reservoir
Paul Parkinson fished again at Beckerings Saturday night for a 24 hour session and he managed 1 carp a common not sure of the exact weight as it wasn't weighed due to the heavy rain but he estimates it at over 20lb.

Neil Cox ended up with 3 Commons from Beckerings this weekend,1 scraper double Friday afternoon, just 5 mins after the rod was in the water then another one at midnight Friday night at 17lb and following assisting with the work party on Saturday he fished Saturday night and had another at 22lb on Sunday morning at 1.30am not bad after all the noise we made during the work party, all fell to the usual madbaits

Fergal O'Kane fished on Sunday and had a succession of small perch and a couple around the half pound mark, followed by one of 1lb2oz.  Not a huge perch, but it is the biggest he has caught from Beckerings. He also had one of the stockies at 9lb 14oz

He had to pack in float fishing as there was a pike that was ambushing all his returned fish and snapping at the ones he was bringing in. Bailiff Neil Cox saw it and said it was about 8lb. Fergal only got glimpses of it, but thinks he was about right at around 8lb.

A massive thanks to all the work party volunteers that assisted with the maintenance works at Beckerings on Saturday. The grass was mowed, and we strimmed all around the otter fence and swims. The area around the gate has been trimmed to allow better visibility when leaving the venue.
Would be good to see a few new faces at the work parties as it's always the same few that do all the hard work.

Police Training Day, Westbrook Mere
11th May 2023
A year ago the Club coaching team were invited to assist in the delivery of a training day focused on angling law and its enforcement for Hertfordshire Police, it was run by the Angling Trust and hosted by Boxmoor & District Angling Society at the picturesque Westbrook Mere near Hemel Hempstead.
This event was so successful that this year we were again invited to deliver the ‘Hands on’ have a go sessions. This time the event was expanded with both Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire forces attending. It was brilliant to meet current members of both Herts and Beds Police Rural crime teams, plus some PCSO's and Specials and start to forge better working relationships with these teams.
There was fantastic enthusiasm to learn, great dedication, and professionalism shown by all who attended.
There is a desire for stronger links to local Angling Clubs, perhaps with some proactive patrols to actively discourage law breaking and antisocial behaviour.
A big thank you to Boxmoor & District Angling Society for hosting a great event at Westbrook Mere, and especially Alan from B&DAS for meeting, greeting, and arranging the catering, and all from Angling Trust who delivered the sessions on angling law.
A thoroughly brilliant day which all who attended enjoyed and even the weather was kind the forecast showers failing to materialise!
There was a great desire shown to run more of these sorts of events, so we have already pencilled in attendance next year!

Twinlakes at Biddenham
This week fourteen anglers met to fish the larger of the lakes (Jacks) at the Twinlakes Fishery at Biddenham. The morning was fine and warm but with a forecast of thundery heavy showers later in the day, but apart from one heavy sharp shower mid-morning we managed to escape the rain again this week.
Thankfully the heavier rain only came as we left the fishery.
It was the first time many had fished this lake on the complex and many were surprised by the depth. It had good colour and a slight ripple from the gentle breeze, and we were hoping for a good day with plenty of fish.
The fishing however turned out like the weather to be somewhat moody, many only really catching in the last hour.
Adrian Smith had a good day fishing a pole using red maggot and feeding fishery pellet, catching steadily throughout the day, taking 14 Carp and some silvers to weigh in 60lb 6oz for 1st place. Andy Frankum followed up with 43lb 5oz for 2nd place, and Richard Darbon fishing a tip rod took 3rd with 38lb 15oz.

Many thanks to those who did the weigh in this week using fishery supplied equipment because as with most commercial venues personal keepnets, landing nets and unhooking mats are not allowed on then venue for biosecurity reasons.
For anyone thinking of joining us for the first time can we ask you message us so we know you are coming before turning up, as this will allow us to better manage the pegging.
Next week we will fish the GUC at Three Locks section 4 (upper) meet in the car park for 8-30 draw fish 10 till 3, £1 Wednesday peg fee and £5-00 optional pools.
