Here is all of the news, information and catch reports from Luton Angling Club.
We received a great message from club member Mark Mclennan this week, he said the following
"I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed fishing Luton AC Club waters since I joined last June. it has been a breath of fresh air literally after Covid and Lock-down to meet such a friendly bunch of Angling folk locally with some really special venues that are properly looked after. thanks to all the Bailiffs and work party regulars for all the hard work here's a few of my catches from last year feel free to post them in the gallery"
Thanks for the positive feedback and the great photos - It makes all the hard work worthwhile!
Here are some of his fantastic catches from the last year, all from Luton AC waters.

OMC - Magic Twig on Luton AC Waters
In the interest of fish safety the board has decided to ban the OMC Magic twig at all Luton AC waters until more is known about the device, and further information and product feedback is available.
We will continue to monitor the product, and this may change in the future however from what we've seen so far we feel the product could potentially pose additional risks to the wellbeing of our fish. Members should be aware that our bailiffs may conduct rig checks from time to time to ensure that any rigs in use are safe and we kindly ask members to co-operate with our bailiffing team.
Beckerings Reservoir
It's almost two months since Amer Jawad had a days fishing, so last Monday, he travelled over to Beckerings for a bit of sport. He caught a lot of big bream (only part of the overall catch in the image) and he even managed a nice mirror carp that decided to gate crash the party!

Jason Mash sent in a picture of the best of the two commons he had on Saturday, He had a half hour battle with this one and commented that the fish was in beautiful condition.
Venue bailiff Neil Cox had a nice afternoon's fishing on Sunday his first fish a low double common came after he moved location to showing fish in the margins and his rod ripped off after just 5 minutes it was caught on a bottom bait the usual madbaits doing the business. His second fish was caught off the surface and it went 16lb 2oz. His advice is if you see fish showing its well worth a move especially on those short day sessions as it will usually pay off.

Wednesday Match group Report 30th August, River Ouse Eaton Ford
We met in the car park at Eaton Ford for our usual pre match banter prior to the draw, and as usual Stuart the bailiff, was there to greet us. Stuart and Glen must be congratulated in the way the venue is presented. It’s a delight to fish here. It was great to see another new face join us this week, we welcomed Les Bolland, who enjoyed the day and intends to come to more Wednesday outings.
We as the day progressed appeared to have all four seasons in one day starting chilly, getting warmer as the sun came up, only to get much cooler again later in the two rain squalls, which brought chilly winds.
We did however manage a day where nobody got too wet for once! The river looked in fine form with flow and moderate colour. The fishing this week wasn’t easy, nobody being able to put together a decent run of fish throughout the match.
Richard Gibbs who was top weight this week, started by catching bleak, small roach and chublets on 3.5m whip. After an hour, he switched to the elasticated 9m Cadence whip with a 2grm Silverlight river float to catch Roach, Perch, Skimmers, and small Chub in about 9ft of water. Richard was plagued by Pike during the match losing several fish and was constantly switching hookbait between single and double red and white maggots, and tares over hemp to keep the fish coming, although he had a very lean last two hours, he finished with a good mixed bag of 7lb 7oz.
Barry Roper again finished in the frame taking second with 3lb 6oz. Barry fished the long whip and just picked up the odd fish switching between maggot and caster. He never managed to get a good run of fish going, but perhaps having an otter in his swim in broad daylight didn’t help!
Richard Darbon took third most of his fish coming on the whip at 5 and 6.5 metres using Pinky and maggot over groundbait. Richard lost a very decent fish on the tip during the match which ran him a merry dance all over the river and then managed to weed him and throw the hook. He wasn’t happy! Richard finished with 3lb 2oz.
Dennis Hunt took 4th, also fishing a Cadence whip at 6.5 Mtrs in a very deep swim. After wasting the first two hours trying to catch on hemp and tare / stewed wheat Dennis switched to double pinkie and managed to put some fish together to finish with 2lb 11oz.
Many thanks to all who assisted this week and best wishes to Tony Hickmott who won’t be out with us for a few weeks due to having an operation on his knee, we wish him a speedy recovery.

The Club coaching teams have been very active over the school summer holidays and have delivered ten high quality ‘Lets Fish’ taster sessions for people wishing to try angling for the first time. These sessions are extremely popular and have taken place around Leighton Buzzard and Berkhamstead and have been a great success.
Thanks to all the volunteers and coaches that have been involved with this program and Lead coach Mark Brooks has asked me to send special thanks to Richard Gibbs and Neil Williams who saved the day recently when a couple of the other volunteers had to drop out at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances.
There have been some great fish caught during all of these sessions, one young Mum on Thursday caught a 14oz Roach during a session in Berkhamstead which has been entered into the CRT August ‘Catch of the Month’ competition! We have been supported in delivering the events around Leighton Buzzard by the Whitbread fund, a local charitable organisation.
Several families returned to do more sessions with us after enjoying the original session so much, and Luton have signed up several young anglers wishing to learn more as Junior Kingfisher members into the Club coaching program, however its not just Junior members who we coach, we help lots of adults as well.
As well as the ‘Lets Fish’ taster events we have been busy running a successful CRT Regional Celebration heat at Three Locks in July and coaching our own Club juniors on Saturday afternoons. They have also been out practicing on their own, and recording some good catches, and the Club now have some extremely capable young anglers, some of whom have fished in adult Wednesday matches.
All this effort is certainly paying off, as Club junior membership has increased, and we have a Club record entry of 12 Cadet (6-10) and Junior (11-16) anglers into the CRT National Celebration of Young People and Fishing to be held on the Shropshire Union on 16 / 17th September. We have several competitors going for the second time, and we know our young anglers will do well in this event which all those who have attended before have really enjoyed, and we are hoping for some great results from our teams.
We will continue to run some Let's Fish taster sessions in the autumn and in October we start our winter once a month Saturday afternoon teach in sessions held at a Luton community centre.
Do you know an aspiring young angler, or do you know anyone who would like to train as a qualified coach and help us? If so, let please us know by getting in touch with the Club.
