North House Lake - Wyboston
Neil Cox had a couple of fish from North House Lake this weekend, one of the 2017 stockies, weighing 19lb 12oz which was a proper scrapper, This fish has been identified as number 3 which was just 6lb 3oz when stocked back in October 2017 its great to see these fish piling on the weight and they are in superb condition. At 1am a common woke him up to a single toner, both fish were taken on madbaits pop ups fished over silt and dead silk weed.

Jason Mash fished the reservoir on Wednesday and he had 3 takes off the top, with one fish landed, a lovely looking common.

River Ouse Eaton Ford
Nobby Clarke fished a swim he hadn't fished before. The river had good flow and colour and he was pleased to finally bag a few decent Roach, he said it’s been poor so far this season with plenty of small roach but no quality ones. He thinks the rain we're getting at the moment has brought them on. He only fished a few short hours today and thinks he was the only angler on the stretch. It took a while to get them onto his usual hemp and tares.

2023 National Celebration of Young People and Fishing
The Luton coaches and young anglers have just returned home from the CRT 2023 National Celebration of Young People and Fishing, the event was held on the Shropshire Union Canal around Newport in Shropshire.
On Saturday, it was the Youth and Cadets category, and on Sunday, Young Juniors and Full Juniors.
It was the biggest fishing event for young anglers CRT has put on so far and the biggest junior angling event in the country this year. It was a remarkable success and gets better every year with more competitors entered. The weather stayed kind for the weekend, with no rain, although on Sunday the wind in some pegs was very awkward.
The fact that most of these young anglers started their journey by attending a ‘Lets Fish’ event not so long ago, and have progressed to this level, some in only a few months is truly astonishing.
We had four Cadets (6-10Yrs) compete on Saturday and Leo, Logan and Uthmaan the Luton Whippersnappers team, and Hugo did fantastically well, all winning their Gudgeon mugs.
The Whippersnappers came a very creditable 18th out of 38 teams entered. Leo aged 7 was our highest placed angler and weighed in 1 Kilo 450 Grams and came 17th out of the 105 Cadets who fished, Well done Leo, and very bad luck on losing the huge Perch that took you under the boat on the far bank.
On Sunday it was the turn of both Junior classes, Young Juniors aged 11-13 and Full Juniors aged 13 -16. Our Young Junior team the Luton Rising Stars consisting of Daniel, Dylan, and Lilly-May came 7th out of the 30 Teams in their age group, both Dylan and Lilly-May weighing 1Kilo 250 grams, coming Joint 23rd out of 82. Dylan and Daniel were both slightly unlucky on Sunday as they both lost a decent bream, which had they been landed would further have boosted the team and individual placing.
Our full Junior teams, the Luton Lock Lads and Luton Allstars consisted of Alfie, Cody, Kayden, Louis, Jack, and Blake who also acquitted themselves very well coming 13th and 27th out of 37 teams. Highest place was the very talented Cody who weighed in 1 Kilo 980grams to take 17th place out of 115, a really great performance.
All our young anglers really enjoyed the Celebration, gained their medals, Gudgeon mugs and goodie bags at the presentations done by Kayliegh Dowd, an English ladies full international angler on both days, and they should be very proud of themselves for representing the club so well. They are a credit to us, and most can’t wait to go again next year.
We should of course record a big thank you to all the parents who take our competitors to these events for your enthusiasm and support, and the coaches who attend to help organise and support our young anglers, without their active participation we wouldn’t be able to do it.
Do you have an aspiring young angler who would like to attend our coaching and winter classroom sessions, and perhaps enter the competition next year? If so, please get in touch with the club.

Match Report 20th September 2023 Grand Union Canal Slapton
Eight hardy anglers turned up at Slapton this Wednesday with one eye on the weather, which was forecast to be very wet and windy, and so it proved!
This week’s winner Ashley Bunnage fished quiver tipped worm on the far bank to bank a fantastic bream catch of 26lb 7oz in the appalling conditions.
Second was Steve Lathwell who due to the weather conditions was only able to fish his pole at 11mtrs’ He fished pinkie over ground bait most of the day, taking the better fish in the first 45 minutes, and after that he was scratching for bits.
Third place was Terry Vickers who started the match well catching skimmers on the pole at 7 metres using casters before struggling for bites in the second half of the match.
Special thanks to Adrian Smith, for performing the weigh-in despite the horrible weather conditions.
There are no pictures this week, as after a very quick weigh-in, the anglers wanted to get back to the car park and get home as quickly as possible to dry out!
