Wyboston bailiff Brian Turner fished Beckerings for the very first time last Sunday night and had a great session. He lost one catfish and banked the second one, a new pb Catfish at 63lb 5oz it put up one hell of a fight at 2am and took over 30mins to get in and he struggled to get it in the 52 inch landing net, he's a bit disappointed about the quality of pictures as he was on his own on the lake and forgot the tripod but he is still buzzing with the catch and will definitely be going again.

WEDNESDAY MATCH REPORT
RIVER OUSE WYBOSTON 27/9/23
It was dark when the ten anglers left home this morning to attend the regular wednesday match, which this week was on the River Ouse at Wyboston. The skies were overcast and threatening rain, some leaves were falling from the trees, and there was a cool breeze in the air. Autumn had definitely arrived! The recent rain had lifted the river level slightly, and it looked in good shape with a slow, steady flow. Water temperature was recorded as being 16.5 degrees and clearer than hoped for. At the waters edge, a breeze was coming across the fields opposite and diagonally across the river and downstream. This made the presentation somewhat challenging at times for those electing to use float tackle. It was a day when the roach decided to feed, and as can be seen in the results, they were taking a variety of baits.
Richard Gibbs elected to solve the wind problem by presenting his 2grm Silverlite float on the pole at seven metres banking 8lbs 14ozs of caster caught roach over hemp, thereby dismissing recent accusations of being a 'bleak basher'!
Adrian Smith took second place also pole fishing at seven metres with a mostly roach catch of 7lbs 15ozs using red maggot and wheat on the hook over groundbait.
Barry Roper was third with 4lbs 14ozs of roach and perch. (No Photo)
Ray Burton used sweetcorn as hookbait and took fourth place with 4lbs 7ozs of roach.
Despite the wind being aggressive at times, the day remained dry, and all enjoyed the day.

Beckerings Work Party
Beckerings will be closed on 7/10/2023 as we'll be carrying out a work party. This is to repair a couple of dodgy platforms (if we are able to source the materials in time) and general venue maintenance including trimming back bushes to make access easier when landing fish while the water levels are low. There is also a damaged otter fence post to repair. Any member who can come and lend a hand is welcome. PLEASE NOTE IF BOOKED ON FRIDAY NIGHT PEGS MUST BE VACATED BY 8am ON SATURDAY. ONLY MEMBERS ASSISTING ON THE WORK PARTY CAN BOOK ON SATURDAY NIGHT.
